Sorry Juttyp, I was being a bit of a nob. I'd add I know nothing about either incident, don't live in Barnsley and know zilch about cctv. Just remembered that thread. Apologies again. If it helps I initially thought this was a thread about weightlifting.
Thanks Jay, needed that. Putting 2 and 2 together and getting a random number. Reminder that you shouldn't make stupid random connections when you don't know people. Hopefully juttyp will accept my apology. I try and make it a rule not to upset people or be judgemental
We've all been there, I'm worse than anyone. Me and you spend too much time on here talking about all sorts of ****, but juttyp tends only to talk about more significant stuff, so maybe those posts stick out.
Just been reading about it on our lass's Facebook thingy, as the family go to the same school as my little ones, so I know who the little girl is. She's only tiny and not even school age yet. Scary stuff, as there are a few people reporting similar things, particularly with what's gone on just down the road in Rotherham. Lets just hope that Barnsley council/police don't avoid the issue like their Rotherham counterparts did. I certainly won't be taking my little ones into town in a hurry, because there's no way to stop them from wandering off. What is the f*cking world coming to? Every day we seem to be reading a new story about organised child abuse.
Wasn't intended to be a personal comment, I was answering the mischief reference in your post. As for the rest of my post - I don't know you! It was in reference to a parent I heard talking at my son's football training session who was (again!) tarring all immigrants with the same brush (over here, claiming benefits, no intention of work, stealing our jobs [yes, the contradiction has been pointed out to him] and now attempting to kidnap our kids for sex/slavery). If this is true and there are people trying to do this it needs acting upon sooner rather than later. I'd hate to hear that some poor bairn has been nabbed. However, these things more often than not end up being exaggerated or down right fictitious. I hope this turns out to be the case.
From reading reports on the incidents (more than three by the way) I get the feeling that it is simply people being paranoid rather than anyone actually trying to snatch kids in a crowded public place whilst their parents are stood watching. I don't think that its actually anyone making things up and trying to be malicious but it seems that people have heard what has happened in Rotherham and are now seeing foreigners and assuming the worst when it comes to kids and that is causing them to misinterprate the situation. I could obviously be wrong
http://www.wearebarnsley.com/mobile...-urge-caution-after-terrifying-snatch-attempt Doesn't sound like this mum was overreacting. If her statement is true that is. But seen as this is what she told the police she's risking it a bit.
I don't doubt shes telling the truth but even the article says that she only believes they wanted the kid not that they tried to take him. And her statement doesn't actually give any evidence at all that they were trying to snatch him.
Are you for real or just here to wind people up? This was a TWO year old child who was surrounded by FOUR adults and a child they didn't know. Who then prevented it's mother from getting to it? If that was my child I would 99.9% call that an attempt to take my child. Maybe it's my paranoia that keeps my kids safe? We shouldn't have to live in a society that relies on paranoia to keep our kids safe.
I'm with you 100% on this subject. I know some people like to present themselves as the voice of reason or play devil's advocate but this is a serious issue that needs addressing now by the police and council before a child is taken. It's not fiction, incidents are in the media and the police are aware but is enough being done to protect our children from this threat? I think not. Ive a 2 year old daughter and neither me nor my relatives will be frequenting the town with her until this has been raised in profile and addressed.
Speaking as aparent If anyone did that to our young'un whether they were from Latvia or Lundwood, they'd get a bit of 4x2 round their bonce.
Sorry, but who takes their 2 year old out and doesn't at least have hold of their arm / hand? Let alone let it become separated among a group of strangers.
Council will do **** all. They strugglebto organise the bin lorry so something as complex as cctv isnt going to be on their lost of priorities. Police are more bothered cranking up the overtime cos a footy match 'might' get lairy than doing police work.
Police in Barnsley want to reassure the public that no reports of attempted child abduction have been received. Two incidents of suspicious behaviour have been reported to police in the last week but after thorough investigations, no evidence of attempted child abduction has been found. A number of comments have been placed on social media causing a high level of concern in the community. But Det Chief Inspector Deb Mahmood said that no offences had been identified as a result of investigations. She added: “We have investigated the matters that have been brought to our attention and I am satisfied that no offences have been committed. Whilst people will be concerned about what they have heard, there is no cause for alarm. “We are aware of the comments made on Facebook however at this time no offences have come to light. “We are increasing patrols in the town centre this weekend and will take positive action around any information that we receive. “If people have any concerns about an individual’s behaviour we ask them to contact 101 and we will fully investigate those concerns.” Officers increased visibility and patrols in the area after concerns were raised relating to a suspicious man in the May Day Green Arcade area on Saturday 21 February. An investigation was launched but no offence was determined to have taken place. Officers responded to a second complaint of suspicious behaviour yesterday. DCI Mahmood added: “I am confident that this report was completely unrelated and our enquiries have found that no offence has taken place. “We are working with the complainants to ensure they are happy with our actions.” Anyone wishing to report any suspicious activity should call 101 or speak to their local officers on patrol. - See more at: http://www.southyorks.police.uk/new...cious-incidents-barnsley#sthash.FlkGZX46.dpuf
