What’s even more horrifying is the ex Met officers in charge of some of the complaints won’t be prosecuted because they’re retired . An absolute scandal this law or whatever it is , is nothing short of a legal protection racket imo .
TBF, some of them might have said something and seen it go nowhere - brushed under the carpet by senior officers. It wouldn't be the first time that such behaviour was ignored or covered up...
By definition the offence of rape requires absence of consent (section 1 Sexual Offences Act 2003). The count you refer to involves sexual activity without consent.
Yeah just re-read the article. Apologies if the way I worded my initial post has offended anyone and forgive my ignorance.
As I said, 'good cops' doing nothing. This is worth a quick read https://www.theguardian.com/comment...-police-rapist-david-carrick-failed-yet-again
I might be a bit thick or just missing the obvious but it quotes police as saying "he had come to the attention of police over nine incidents, including rape allegations, between 2000 and 2021" but later says that a victim only came forward in October 2021 and also that he's admitted offences against 12 different women. So are they saying that he had been reported nine times and ignored? And that it was only when the tenth report came in that they acted?
It would appear so. Apparently 9 individual women citing, then dropping cases against the same guy wasn't a cause for concern in itself. "Boss, why do women keep making charges against this guy, then dropping them?" They're either just completely incompetent, or rapist protectors.
I watched a film with Jeff Bridges where he picked up young girls and buried them alive. (It obviously wasn't real life). However, what tipped him over the edge was saving a kid from drowning at his daughter's birthday party. Apparently he saw how easy it was to take a life in the same instant. I can't help thinking if the Police have members that are psychologically altered by the events that happen to them on the beat. Do they need more stringent evaluation. This guy was clearly a sexual deviant and a predator. Was there a moment in his fledgling career that tipped him over the edge that wasn't seized upon?
I see the police finally got round to firing him today - I do hope he wasnt being paid whilst under suspension
To go back to your original post lots of people in different professions see and are involved in horrific situations, they don’t turn into monsters
Yeah. I think I was looking too hard for a reason somebody might commit such atrocities. When in actual fact they a re just a nasty, callous piece of work. Probably watched too many conspiracy and sleuthing documentaries, dramas.
