Honestly think the Tories are screwed,

Do they lurch even further to the right to attract defectors from Reform? Or do they move to a more centrist position to win back votes from Labour/Lib Dems?

Imagine we'll find out in the upcoming leadership contest.

The main candidates that are foisting themselves on their party as possible leaders are more far right/populist... But looking down the lists of who is still there... They look more centrist and the first phase of a leadership contest is decided by MPs. If they want a centrist option, they'll have to be savvy and block out the far right candidates before it goes to members who seem to be far right in their outlook.

There is a good chance they will make the wrong decision and have to start again during the current parliament. 5 years is a long time and I think it is probably only a 50/50 chance that the next Conservative leader will be the person who leads them into the next election in 2029.

I don't think there's negative spin on here. Just observation and opinionated analysis. Keir Starmer is indeed in no. 10 . He's also got a big majority with a vote share of c.35%. Biggest party. Tories are out. We'll see what happens. As it happens I thought he made a good speech outside no.10 as indeed Sunak did in defeat. In my opinion.

I think that's all anybody ever wanted. Do a deal with France, set up proper offshore processing and fund it adequately. Stop the boats, but in the right way.

Free English lessons for those who are successful as well, like in Denmark. Much better that we get people who are eligible in and working, not risking their life for an existence in substandard hotel rooms on poverty money (that the state is still having to pay for).

It’s a shame he didn’t show that level of grace whilst in office.

Same as I've said before, Labour must make things better for ordinary people and they will forget about Reform UK Ltd and the Tories. Sunak could have done many things to make our lives better but chose not to hence the drubbing. The vast majority of people just want to get on with their lives getting enough to live on and a few luxuries. They also want the state to be there when things go wrong; the NHS and social care. They also want decent infrastructure such as public transport, roads and rivers not full of poo.

Go some way to providing all of these things and the job's a good 'un.

Someone will lead them for 2-3 years and then it will be Farage.
