    I've got Asthma

And I'm sure you can buy tickets for games at the end of rows next to the gangway so you don't have to stand up.

And wouldn't smokers be coming back late at half time after having an extra cig, causing you to stand up? Or is that only piss heads?

That can't be right Eaststand Lower

Its against football league rules to have a smoking area inside the ground. Barnsley aren't knowingly breaking the rules of the league. They can't surely be encouraging their fans to break football league rules can they?

well yes , many cannot do it

simple as that.Simply put it is nicotine addiction, just the same as any narcotic addiction.granted the psychotic effects are nowhere close to the hard drugs but nevertheless its still a medically accepted fact that it is deep rooted addiction. Some extremely hooked simply cannot do without just like any addict no matter what his/her addiction. It is no good spouting and preaching at them as they simply will not hear you.

So are you saying that barnsley fc do encourage fans to break football league rules by going in this area to smoke?

    Self inflicted = no sympathy

They can get patches and other things to help with their addiction. Why can't they wear these at football matches? And I still cant believe that you think smokers can't work.

You said they cant go for an hour and half without smoking

Work generally lasts more than an hour and half so if they can't manage that amount of time how do they have a job?

They have "*** breaks" (not to be mis-interpreted as meaning summert dodgy). Meanwhile the rest of the non-smoking workforce soldiers on...

that does not actually say they cannot work

and many many work places have smoking areas, some a merely like a bus shelter type affair, my work place has such a shelter. Also it is not banned in the street. How many times have you seen shop assistants hairdressers whatever outside the shop having a ***.Or does this not suit your argument.

RE: You seem to think that because smoking is an addiction

Surely it's pretty obvious that if they could go for a couple of hours we wouldn't be having this stupid argument?

Do you have a job? Are there people there that smoke? Do they go out for *** breaks every so often?

But while your workplace may have a smoking shelter

How often are your breaks? If it's less than one every hour then how do the smokers survive until their next break?

Is it? So every one of those people that smoke at matches do so because they NEED to? Not because they choose to? There isn't one of them that could go for a couple of hours but think hey the club lets me do it so i might as well not wait?

I'm a non-smoker and have been since I gave up 30 years since

I hate the smell of cigs etc. However I don't think it is up to me to deprive a smoker of cigarettes provided it doesn't impinge on my right to clean air. Smoking in the toilets is wrong as it clearly breaks the law and should not be allowed. Smoking in the areas between the stands whilst it breaks the league diktat, does not break the law and in my opinionshows the club exercising common sense to provide a solution to a problem that could otherwise escalate.
