I was editing book #97 for the online charity I volunteer at (I've just completed #99) and I'm pleased that it just so happens that I'll complete my 100th book during Volunteer Week). It was quite eye-opening actually, it was all about a girl with Cystic Fybrosis who likes to bake. I'd heard of Cystic Fybrosis but had no idea of the impact it has on people's daily life. (It was called The Baking Life of Amelie Day for anyone who is interested, it's written for teenagers and the baking parts were quite boring so I wouldn't really recommend it but as I say, it was definitely eye opening.)
In Golden Fortune Chinese restaurant in Bowness on Winderwere with the family. I was surprisingly calm.
Drunk in the No 7 having watched Tom Stade at The Civic. Danced until the early hours in town. Too drunk to get out of my shoes when I got home, so collapsed on the bed fully clothed and shoed. Woken by my brother ringing my mobile at 7:30 am, he was sat outside in the car, straight out of the door, same clothes, same shoes, off to Wembley.
Looking for a pub in Edgware to watch the playoffs and the champions league final. We got to watch Hull beat Wednesday but the only pub we could find with the football on was hosting a wedding anniversary and were turning the football off, well the sound anyway. We were given a warm invite to stay but we declined, went to the off licence, bought some booze and went back to the B & B to watch it in my Dad's room. The B & B was also hosting some Hull fans and a couple of dee dars, one of whom we met in the garden but who was in no mood for conversation. The nerves had definitely started to kick in by the time Real won their game.
Last Saturday I was at the Jeff Koons retrospective exhibition in Vauxhall. Thought a bit of culture was required to settle the nerves!
Re: I was I was asking Whitey, why on earth had he, and only he, no help or support from anyone else which was an achievement in itself...selected bloody Stevenage as our destination. Have a look at this clip of our night out. Can anyone that knows us, spot who's who?
What's even funnier, they actually had bouncers on the doors but to make sure there wasn't any trouble...surely you need punters first?
Re: I was I was watching Hull KR away in the south of France vs Catalan Dragons, after the week in Spain my original flight home was 10pm Sunday night!! I'd watched it coming for months, and I said to the misses can we come home Sunday morning just in case, she said in Dec/Jan, you will never need that flight for Wembley, and if you do you will be happy to book another one!! So walking back to the car at Walsall I'm on the phone booking another flight for Sunday morning from Barcelona 10pm Saturday night, just arriving back into Spain after the Catalans game, I get a txt to say sorry but your flight at 7am has been cancelled, no reason why, and no other flights are cancelled....*******s easy jet!!!! I'm bricking it thinking, I'm too tired to hire a car and drive from Spain-London, have I even got enough hours to do it it!!! A train is available from Paris to London St Pancs, but IF it's on time it only gets in at 1.30, so I'll miss the match build up!! Luckily I got a seat on another flight at 6am, so I got a taxi to the airport in case of anymore problems, it was 1am and the cab cost 120 euro's with it being 50 miles away!!!!!! I got a bit of sleep on the airport floor for an hour or so, then finally it got up in the air after hours sat around & praying nothing else went wrong....even the plane left 25 mins late due to a technical error in the cabin which was sorted, thank god!!! So in the end, having to book 3 flights home, flying into Standstead and not Gatwick, getting a train for another £18, the taxi money, the not sleeping for 40 hours come Sunday night.....it was quite crazy, but worth every single bit of it!!!!! YOU REDS
Re: I was That's a brilliant story - respect to you. By the way, in 8 minutes there will be just 3 hours to kick off!
