I think that we need to purchase a first choice number 1 with Walton providing effective competition. I think we’d be incredibly foolish/naive to overlook a new keeper and stick with Davies and Walton.
He was fantastic in 2016/17 but I think he’s been average this season and it all stemmed from his failed moves. That’s my opinion and I stick by it like you’ll stick by yours but he clearly doesn’t care about the club with the stunts he’s pulled and should realise that if we didn’t take him from Barnet and polish his game, he’d still be down there playing lower league football.
I think it’s best Davies moves on to be fair. He’s undeniably been great in the past but we might as well have had no-one between the sticks this season when he was selected he was that poor.
I agree. In 40 years of watching The Reds I can't remember a season where poor goalkeeping has cost us so many goals.
Perfectly said Mr Goat. It’s been a bad season for all the team but Davies has only added to it with some shocking displays.
Without wanting to appear overly critical I wholeheartedly agree. If we look at the performances objectively then it’s clear that we’ve conceded so many comfortably avoidable goals that have cost us points and ultimately our Championship status. People on this board and elsewhere are often blinded by the 2015/16 promotion campaign and the first half of 2016/17 but unfortunately he hasn’t been the same since then. There’s only so much you can put down to loss of form, particularly when we’re looking down the barrel of 18 months of abject performances, or thereabouts. Grave error in both summer 17 and January 18 not to recruit someone to at least provide effective and viable competition.
Yiadom has been our best player this season i would say but premier league right back??? Nar not for me mid table championship team at best
Goalkeeping is all about having confidence in one's own ability to make the right judgements during the game. Once that confidence has gone, goalies start to doubt their ability to make good decisions and that flash of doubt enters their head every time they come into play, leading to hesitation and poor decision making. Adam Davies never struck me as being overly confident even at his best. So when things started to go awry this season his confidence went and he's subsequently been very poor. I personally think he needs a change of scenary, where he can rebuild his confidence in a less pressured environment
Daft making him captain and daft having 30 defensive combinations in front of him over the season. I bet he didn’t know whether he was on this earth or fullers
