Is this now the time to revert to a back four ,as clearly the wing backs are not working like last season. We did look very poor on our left all of the first half, the first goal came from here.
After all the rumpus off the pitch, I did like a brief clip after the final whistle, of a smiling Cauley Woodrow, Jacob Brown and Callum Styles having a hug and a chat walking off the pitch..
Mads has never looked very good with the ball at his feet hopefully he isn't asked to stand at the side of collins to receive the ball and bring it out of defence.
Exactly we need to start winning some games and fast the longer that goes on the harder it will be to start climbing the table.
Good point in the end and really pleased to see us battling. So many holes though for me. Depends how you look at it. Could say that gives us loads of room for improvement. Could say it’s a sign we’ve gone backwards, as many of those holes are holes that weren’t there last season. As a manager he seems far too happy to pick up a point. Even against 10 men I didn’t get the sense he was pushing us to get the win.
Thanks for that, could ruffle a few feathers on here but for me with the football I've seen so far and the results we look set for a relegation scrap. And if this squad goes down it will be the most talented barnsley squad I've seen relegated from the 2nd tier.
If the starting XI and bench last night were what we were planning on attacking the whole season with, you'd probably have a fair point, although even then I think we'd just about survive. You'd have to try pretty hard to get a team containing Styles, Helik, Brittain, Woodrow and Collins relegated. But in any case with EIGHT first teamers missing, it's complete folly to make judgements on how we'll do this season based on the first few games. I said at the start of the season that ten points from the first ten matches would be a solid return under the circumstances, and I still believe that.
Hmm, it takes a special sort of incompetence to get a team containing Dyer, Sheron, Morgan and Barnard relegated from the second tier. Even though they were surrounded by some proper guff, finishing 21st really shouldn't have been a problem.
I think we've regressed back to the team under Stendel in 19/20 and are making similar errors. Even the playing style looks similar.
To be fair pinnock hardly got a look in hecky preffered mcdonald and Adam Jackson over him. But point taken with the rest of the squad we even had mowatt in that squad. I still think we have a good bunch who relegation is a massive underachievement.
