Give it a little time . Small steps. Prefer to be here rather than in Derby , forest position. Losing Solly was a big loss.
I wonder what the Stoke fans are saying about their 5.5 million pound striker who should have had a hat trick. Don't know what they paid for the giant at the back , he was immense throuout the game.
I'm not sure I'd ever blame a 46-game season that ends in relegation on just one thing. There's a lot more to it than that.
He played 15 times, but you're right, he wasn't first choice. I think Mowatt was sent out on loan though. Regardless, I see the current squad nowhere relegation this season. But who knows? That's the beauty of football. I'm not sure what you were saying after seven games last season, without going through your post history, but I do recall a lot of posters saying we were going down last season too. After seven games. Let's hope folk look as daft this time as they did then.
I think some of those were sub appearances under hecky he was 4 choice center back behind our captain Angus, Liam lindsay and even Jackson who hecky took to other clubs. And mowatt started the 1st game away at Bristol and then was loaned out. I wasn't impressed with last seasons start I thought we were very negative under struber. I'm not saying were going down but the signs aren't great from.what I've seen so far. I couldn't tell you what schopps style is, we don't create much, we mostly rely on individual brilliance for our goals like woodrow last night or styles v brum.
A lot of our moves break down before there's an attempt at goal. One pass too many, bad touch wrong option when three on two etc. I don't think our attacking play is the problem. It's our lack of composure.
Its never a good sign if you create very little and opposition create a boat load and your keepers a regular motm
I was left wondering what the role of a wing back is. Is it an attacker, or a defender? Because for large parts of the game ours were doing neither, both, when they got the ball went inside to midfield and left acres of space for their wingers to run into. This is an organisational issue and needs sorting out. First half we were in control and looked the more skilful side until they scored. It was a battering ram against a rapier, a bruiser against a boxer. Second half was different, we reverted to last years tactics, fighting for the ball and pressing in their half. We showed much more steel. Never more so than when defending their continuous corners. Collins was brilliant, agile, quick and strong, but the rest of the lads showed determination as well. We could have conceded a cricket score largely because of the vacant full back positions, but we could also have won it. They were as lucky as we were.
I'm not even sure I'd say we were lucky. Collins made a number of good saves, but on those occaisions, their player couldn't beat our player. That's what the keeper is there for.
00.50! You were lucky. Got away in decent time though caught in that carnage on the M6. got in 1.33am. It was worth it.
I'm sure we're not going to find out until everyone is available, however ist half against QPR gave me enough encouragement to give him chance.
One of the weirdest games I've ever been to. - 1st half - not worthy of comment - 2nd half - One of the most entertaining I've ever seen. - Strange Stadium; all the stands and turnstiles were open and the bar code on the tickets were fine! - Defensively. Oh dear. - Passing. Some lovely stuff cutting Stoke apart - but they did the same to us. - Finishing. Oh dear - Collins. Beyond outstanding. - Cauley. All over the pitch brilliant. - Halt time subs: Brilliant. Victor put himself about for 10 mins and the rest of the players seemed to take heart and raised their own game. Two 'stand outs' for me. That 2nd half performance in terms of 'giving a toss' was one of the best I've seen. It made me proud to be a Reds fans and the fans fed off that and the atmosphere was absolutely cracking. I'm still not sure what we're about or how we are trying to play so although we can take that 'attitude; into the Blackburn game, what's the game plan?.
True. If we play the same formations against Blackburn, we'll need Collins to put another special performance in. They play down the channels, to forwards that like to cut in, and they'll be looking to get the likes of Dolan, Brereton or the forwards they've brought in on loan, up against our wider CBs. I'm not sure how we can avoid conceding a hatful of chances without any full back of any description, which seemed to be what we had last night.
