If I'm ever in need of cheering up I sometimes like to go back and look at the Bristol City fans' opinions of Cauley Woodrow.
He's arrived with the right attitude re- " I'll give everything for Barnsley", plus he's played alongside Luke Thomas who was on loan at Coventry, so there should be some kind of an understanding already there. As we know, some players seem to thrive at a particular Club and hopefully are able to rekindle their early promise. Classic case is Mowatt. Player of the season at Leeds only to fall out of favour. We took him, loaned him to Oxford and on his return, he broke into our side. Surely he now has to be one of the first names on DS's teamsheet every week.? We've got to allow time for Conor to find his feet. Looking at his video clips, there's no doubting that the basic talent is there. It's now up to our coaches to encourage him and bring the best out of him. Hope he can do it as he sounds a decent lad.
Talented lad. Could do with a new suit.. I heard biglil saw him perform once, at Barnsley Civic? Rest is history..
No view yet. I’ll form one after about 10 or 15 games. Sounds like he’s a grafter. He’s about 3ft 8 though, so unless he’s a good slotter, he’ll tow
With the way his career has gone so far I'm expecting him to be warming the bench most of the season then we'll sell him for £5 million to a premier league team in the summer.
The weight of having to perform is not all on the players shoulders. When we buy we use the spreadsheet and all of its data. It is up to us as a club to use that data and get the best out of the player. If other clubs aren’t working to this model players loose their way and this is when we step in. This is why I think players suddenly start performing when they join us and then can no longer perform when they leave.
Watching the clips, reminds me very much of Adam Armstrong, who we had on loan a few seasons back. All the promise and skill, speed and shooting ability, never seemed to work for him at our place, like it did at Coventry ironically. He seems to have found his fit at Blackburn so proof is you can show what you’re capable of giving the right club that plays to your strengths and your manager has faith in you. Let’s hope he flourishes with us.
