If you stand on them your legs will still go straight up through your torso. Jumping is an absolute no-no.

 

And that isn't taking into account the glaringly obvious fact that if you jump up towards something that is coming down on top of you very very fast (the roof of the lift) then you will not be in good shape.

Everyone lost out. Not least the taxpayers. You may want to upsticks and run when the going gets tough, but not everyone wants to, or is even in a position to do that.This country is suffering badly from the 'sit back and accept all the **** thats thrown at you' attitude. The Miners fight was a just cause(proven even moreso by the current fuel prices fiasco) and only measures of an unprecedented nature by a Govt. who were hell bent on creating a society like we see today.
Oh and by the way, I was a miner for almost 16 years, I was on strike without a salary for a year. I am absolutely proud of my own and many thousands of others stand against a pit closure programme that the Tories, at that time denied ever existed. They said we were playing up for nothing.
