Apparently the box office is 'adequate' most of the time though. I wonder how many other companies there are that think that 'adequate' is all they need? dammsy is a supervisor in the frozen foods section at morrisons. what would happen if his boss had discovered that the way he was running his department had meant that he had been unable to cope with demand 3 times in the last month?
lol, u'd be suprised how often that happens, plus ave only been doing supervisors job 4 3 weeks, plus i ant got to satsify 15,000 people!!!
would ave thort ud be able to doi it by post.... plus if we dint fetch the cages owt, nowt would get filled, and you wount be able to do ur shopping... anyway if its barnsley mozzys ur on about, dunt wrok in that one!!!
No but you would be expected to be able to cope with increased levels of sales occasionally. The way that I see it is we have a 23,000 seater stadium, we should have ticketing arrangements in place that enable us to sell that amount of tickets in a reasonable fashion. They don't need to be used ALL the time but the arrangements should be there for the times that they are needed. Adequate isn't good enough for me i'm afraid, we should be striving for exceptional as that is the only way to drive a business forward. For example, the club has/did have an online ticketing company facility that could have been used right now for people buying tickets for the chelsea and sheffield wednesday game, but for reason's unknown it is being turned off. Queues for chelsea tickets could have been avoided at the box office by having turnstyles open for buying tickets, this is how I bought my play off final ticket a decade ago yet we have gone backwards and this is now being used. This is nothing to do with us having adequate service normally, this is to do with theire being poor planning for the big games.
that into days forward thinkign world you can sell tickets without a 4 day queue. our two bigger home games are looking like not selling out due to this farce, pissed off fans. its all well and godo saying they dont expect this and that. But as a business you always shoudl look for the unexpected bonus and plan for it. not sitting on the laurels.
In my experience lots. Your not talking about a bit of extra capacity required but a 1000%-2000% increase in sales. Your talking about an eventuality that may occur once every 4 or 5 years on average, one that will be dealt with despite all the moaning. Sure there will be lessons to be learned. Let's hope the club learn them but throwing 50k or 100K at a system that will be used once in a blue moon isnt the answer either. As for the arguments that people are at work and can't get to the club, why haven't they sent in a postal application? No queueing, no problems?
find me where the club advertises postal applications and it costs 100k to open a turnstyle? **** me prices have gone up
1000% increase in sales? So the 3000 pay on the days have suddenly become 30000?
And why don't people trust the post? Because people don't trust the post! Or the Club, or the need to openly disclose card details.
Sorry to be having a go again mate, but you really don't seem to have grasped how deeply people feel about not just this, but about one PR disaster after another from an institution that means such a lot to so many of us.
The Club is absolutely taking the piss with our loyalty, and for some they'll stretch it to breaking point.

RE: find me where the club advertises postal applications Do the turnstyles have computer terminals linked to the ticketing system installed in them?
And if they aren't I hope Mr Shepherd won't be moaning in the Chron about the stay-aways.
Because the blame will lie fairly and squarely with the Club and its shambolic sales practices.

RE: 1000% increase in sales? We're not paying on the day are we? The ticket office sells 500 tickets on an average week. If you don't trust the normal post then send the application recorded delivery or drop it at the club personally. Personally I see no problem disclosing card details - its the banks problem as far as a card holder not present transactions go not yours but if you really are that paranoid send a cheque or money order?
