I'm not a season ticket holder. Used to be but now just go to some games each season. I'm not going and deliberately so. This 'youre not a proper fan if you don't go' is so overly simplistic. I want the club to do well like everyone else but have had the life sucked out of me by the board and the previous board increasingly so over the last few years. The constant mismanagement, poor recruitment, fire sales, co.ck ups and poor communication have taken their toll. The players on the pitch and Collins this year have also contributed to my fed-upness. Its completely demoralising. There really is a lack of HOPE. Paradoxically I'll be dipping my toe in next season and see how the team set up, if the manager seems to be anything like decent and after whatever recruitment the board have made re: players. Next season there will be SOME hope, even if it turns out to be fleeting. Please dont tell me I'm a crap fan for not going tomorrow though-I've been every year since 1969. There are no 'better fans', just fans. If the team, through crap management and a crap board aren't prepared to do something for me, after I've spent money on them they can bollo.x. If they win tomorrow, great. If they get to Wembley and win, brill but based on the season and the comedic tactics, boring football and club mismanagement I've every reason as a fan to say 'Im not going'. The club has to earn the support just as much as the supporters are naturally inclined to give it. Its swung too far for me and the club has not earned my physical presence tomorrow.
Nah, not having that. Lots of things to have a go at. Lack of graft is definitely not one of em. With the odd exception, from what I’ve seen they’ve never stopped trying.
To me it's sounds like a bit of a consumer opinion- the company's not earned me spending my money on their product ,so I'm not paying. Supporting your local small town club didn't used to be like that. The ticket price is fairly reasonable given the status of the game, we're not being ripped off. It's £20 to get behind them, when it really matters. Four of my family going for £50. It's not about being a 'proper fan' or whatever, just sad if people who can afford to don't go to support on a big night when the odds are against us. And promotion/ staying in the same division will have a massive bearing on next season, the spending etc. Even the economics for the town. I live up in the north east and have only been able to get to so many games this season, so certainly don't think of myself as a better fan or whatever.
I’ve even managed to convince Will to go and he normally flat out refuses to watch any football. (He drops me off most weeks but would rather wait two hours in the car on his phone than come in). If he can be arsed tomorrow then actual fans who are available and can afford it have no excuse.
I’m seeing a lot of you on here calling out the fans who aren’t going. Yet when I was at Stevenage the other month, and pompey a few weeks back, there was plenty of spaces on the coaches and tickets available (Stevenage was rearranged so a lot didn’t make it). Where was most of you then? This “im a better fan than you” ******** is pathetic. A lot of people don’t feel this lot deserve their money or support, and that’s fine. No need to dig others out just because they have a different opinion to you.
Nice selection! Usually go to Morrisons for my beers with Tesco in reserve. Might give Asda a whirl as there's a couple on there I've never seen before.
That’s a completely different scenario. If I did 6 away games I’d probably spend what I do on a season ticket. It’s not affordable for most people with families & it’s a ball ache with work on Tuesday nights. This is people who can presumably afford it just saying they can’t be bothered to go.
Is it the fans fault then? The blame is solely down to the current 'investors', they are the reason 'their' club isn't selling tickets. They arent good enough to run a professional football club.
It was more me making a point mate, I wasn’t actually digging them out. I was just making it clear that I could throw the same stones right back at them for not being “proper fans”
For your family or your club you sometimes have to put your own feelings to one side and offer support. Life never runs how you want it to but you shouldn't stop supporting the things you love
That’s fair. There are a number of different reasons people can’t/wont attend. Infighting/name calling doesn’t help anyone.
Every video has been wonderful to see. Would love to see one with Redders and Stonesy on....Trippier too....Daniel Wilson made the best clip, but then as a Wigan Athletic fan he wants Bolton to lose every game
It doesn’t you’re right. There’s clearly issues in the camp, the last thing they need is fans fighting amongst each other in the stands due to a daft difference in opinion. I won’t be going as I’ve already stated, I’m burnt out from this year. However I hope we win and I hope everyone who attends has a night to remember. We all want the same thing at the end of the day.
