The Ryder cup? He was sensational, but in the Majors.......

a bit of a choker, Henmanesque.

RE: Tim Henman, a pampered elitist, playing an elitist game............

Pampered elitist - well, all people at the top of their game are pampered elitists - thats the whole point surely.

Elitist game - I played tennis as a young un, we played in the street, bit of rope between two lamp-posts or up at the Public tennis courts at Pilley. Racquets cost less than football boots and tennis balls less than footballs. Its elitist if you want it to be.

Blue Rinsed - go on, explain that one.

2 Weeks out of a Year - Thats only for troglodytes that doen't know much about what is going on in the world.

Notoriety through being an annual flop - So, he never won the Mens Single Title at Wimbledon, but then again, only 1 person per year can win that title, there are 6 billion of us on this planet, he got closer to it than most.

You have a massive chip on your shoulder, most likely you have problems with self esteem, jealousy and as a child you were molested by someone in white shorts.

Its not fair, Timmy has lots of money, is good looking, all the women love him and I'm not succesful at anything. Boo hoo.

excellent analysis of a typical bbs rant. although tennis isn't face to lace football's boots we shouldn't blame henman. we should just make it illegal for anyone to shout "COME ON TIM" and impose mob justice upon them

    Top Post (respect)

Especially the elitist point. It's the inverted snobs that make the game elitist in this country - not those who play it, not those who run the sport (well not any more).

take issue with you on one point...

..those running the game. Whilst there may be one or two in the LTA who genuinely are trying to widen access to the sport it is not wide spead in the organisation. The vast majority of tennis clubs are run for the seniors and are actively discouraging of youngsters (e.g. young folk allowed to play when nobody else wants to). LTA rules for investing in community tennis facilities are focused on identifying players for elite coaching rather than encouraging children from poorer backgrounds.

not quite as thick as you though

Unless you are admitting that Henman has been the best we've had and one of the best in the world over the last 15 years. I know the sort of background he's had but he has worked very hard to achieve his best. I also reckon he has been a bit unlucky with grass courts getting slower and deserves praise rather than cheap attacks. I'd rather have his attitude than Murray's any day.

RE: Tim Henman a player that deserves all accolades

Henman is the best tennis player we have produced in decades. Granted hes not as gifted as many foreign players but never underestimate the hard work he has put into his game to run them close.

His fellow pros afford him utmost respect so to label him as shiiiiite is a bit wide of the mark.

    Yawn.

I see nothing in bright red post to agree with your position.

After a post like that and the subsequent extra digging you've done, I doubt that anyone on this board will ever take anything you say seriously again. Not just about Henman or Tennis but about anything at all. You have just decimated your own credibility. Well done! And you call Henman a loser, what a joke!
