    Re: Give over!

I wasn't saying we'd never won there clever clogs. Last season was quite obviously the exception rather than the rule. We've won three of the last 20 games at Ipswich so all I was saying was that losing 1-0 at Portman Road was no great disaster. We lost 6-1 in 1999 in the play-off year as well as 4-2 at Wembley and lost 5-1 in 2007.

Wearer of intelligent footwear. Thanks for the compliment.

Exceptions to the rule, what b@stards should`ve lost 1-0 that`d keep em happy.

Don't really get your point. We have a dreadful record at Portman Road so losing 1-0 there was no great surprise to me. It hardly warranted the mass hysteria and calls for the manager's head.

That's alright if you ignore the fact we've lost about 75% of the games we've played at other grounds since January.

Can't look at past history at a ground and use that as acceptance for a defeat, same as Coventry.

Just been browsing some old Chronicle sports pages from years gone by. And our away form was the same or worse under the last two managers, and the letters pages were full of 'Robins has failed', 'Davey must go' and so on and so forth.
Its deja-vu on the pitch, yet there isnt any calls for this managers head on those letters pages. And the support for KK has been pretty much universal, so far, despite this Davey-esque, Spackman-esque sequence of results.
I like KK, and considering his tactless approach with supporters at times, even I am quite surprised there hasnt been much unrest yet on the terraces. I think like me, most fans are giving him next season. But unlike me, it will take just a poor start in August again, before a majority are hounding him out... maybe

Plenty of people i'd imagine if we were pro active in looking rather than sitting on our arse and hoping someone comes calling. Does anyone know how many million/billionaires they are in the world?

Agree - I'd like to know what is being done to market the business.

We are a single town team, one division away from the Premier League, have good training facilities and a good stadium, currently breaking even whilst being competitive in the Championship, minimal debt, some good youth prospects...

I think that makes us sound like a fairly attractive club

Agreed. We are an attractive club for anyone interested. With our ground, academy, facilities, catchment area, history etc. I don't buy for one minute that we are this bad club that nobody wants. I can imagine though Patrick won't want to give up all he owns with the council cheaply and that will put people off.

Why would someone invest tens of millions of pounds into a football club?

The main responses I can think of are a) because they want to make a killing (and most such owners usually leave the club in a right mess afterwards), b) that they want to be a bigshot and throw some money around but quickly realise they are up to their necks in debt and haven't got deep enough pockets, c) because they have a love for that particular club and want to safeguard it and protect it.

A sensible business person would avoid most football clubs because they are an absolute poisoned chalice. And very few people have anywhere near the resource to fund a club throwing caution to the wind to follow a pipedream. The main money to be made, as Mandaric has found, is by getting a big club in debt with a big fan base up a division and then flipping it to someone more stupid (see Portsmouth, see Leicester, see SWFC in one or more seasons).

Do we really want such owners for our club?

Or does it make sense to live within your means?

The motive of potential new owners may well be one of the reasons Patrick Cryne is hanging onto the club - We don't know though, we never hear anything on this front.

All we know for sure is PC no longer has the finances, or the desire to take the club forward. I believe we are an attractive club for the right investor, and it is time the club was sold to someone with the will and ability to make us competitive in this league.

Why are we an attractive proposition for an investor?
