So now site states sold out, yea people have had 11 days notwithstanding any work commitments that they were trying to move. Irrespective of division next year the club needs a strategy to make the West fully available ( until it’s bulldozed) at short notice, not that this is short notice we’ve been guaranteed play offs for 5 or 6 weeks now ! I’m sure portaloos and a snack van could be organised at shorter notice and for this we cannot blame Ticketmaster Khaled needs to give answers around this especially around stonewalling fans. Before folk start saying stop moaning , I have every right to because it’s tinpot and embarrassing, I also bought my ticket the morning when they went on sale. On the plus side there will be more Reds in than against Wendy given some ST holders didn’t go due to it being rearranged and everyone has bought with the intention of going.
Oakwell will be rocking we know that but the crunch of the argument is Khaled and co have been throwing we need you for over a week but don't give us the full quarter
Tbf, no one from the Club has set any expectation that the North Stand would be open. If they'd said it would be, or even that it might be, then fair enough. But they haven't done either of those things. Doesn't really seem fair, criticising the Club for not doing something that they never said they would do.
What else could Khaled mean with this interview other than to open the north? Otherwise, why not let Bolton have 4.5k and us have similar at their place? Makes no sense. https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/spo...ad-bolton-wanderers-play-off-ticket-decision/
I am not criticising as such it is just the madness of the we need you activity plus the fact they had halfed Bolton's allowance. I believe most people thought the other half was going to be red
One thing to remember when discussing the potential revenue v cost of letting more of our fans use the empty seats is that yes the club only get 12.5% of the gate receipts but it's NET not gross and is after all stewarding is paid for. If we sold £100k of tickets throughout the stadium and spent £10k on stewards that £10k would come out of the pot first and then the club would get it's share of ticket sales which would be £11,250. If the club then spent an extra £10,000 on stewards to overzealously police the north stand and managed to sell just a tiny tiny £5000 worth of tickets (about 250 seats) then we'd get £10,625. It's cost the club just a few hundred quid to hire an extra £10,000 worth of stewards. Unless I've massively cocked up on my maths
"a few hundred quid" v the rewards of promotion, should those extra fans help get the team over the line. Hmm....it's a tough call
I’m guessing you mean this? “It’s a combination of what we think is good for both clubs and also to provide a chance for as many Barnsley fans as possible to watch the game next Friday.” The second half of that sentence is what’s probably led people to think the North might be opened up. I can see how people might glean that from this, but it’s still only implied really. As for their allocation, tbh I would have still only given them the same, regardless of whether the North was open to us or not. My read on it is Bolton decided to limit our allocation to 2k, so we’ve done the same. Totally fair for me. All that said, I do agree that Khaled should give a clear explanation of how they explored opening the North, and on what basis they decided not to. I think that’s fair. They showed they technically could do it against Pompey, so there’s no argument there.
That's the one mate. He also says 'it was our choice' re allocations, so it wasn't the case that Bolton gave us 2k and we matched it, it was the other way round. The reason being - according to Khaled - to ensure as many reds as possible get to see the game. The only way to do that (i.e. provide more tickets than normal, or 'make sure as many get to see it as possible' for reds) is to segregate the north stand.
Less the VAT. Totally agree. Within reason we can stand a small loss, but not a 5 figure loss, for which might just be an extra 200 fans. Never needed it before, so I bet the club are just cautious how many more actually want tickets.
If the club had 3 fit for purpose stands available for home fans then the issue of opening up the north stand to us wouldn’t have been mentioned the truth is the west stand is holding the club back especially when there are big crowds expected and we are turning fans away.
Loads of other clubs have home and away fans in the same stand. It's not the West stand that's the problem.
Course it is. An empty srand creates zero atmosphere. Was always a.much better atmosphere when that stand was full.e.g All Premier League matches, Big Cup games against Spurs, Man United, Chelsea etc. Atmosphere has never been as good since they shut it.
