I'm with Jay on this. All done so somebody can have a "told you so" moment. Besides - I've no idea who Kneeflicker is. I'd just settle for a game not being over the moment we go behind.
Conan I've decided that you are absolute 100% nailed on stone wall ****. Oh and by the way your a ******* burk too. Hope this helps
I don't care less who manages my Club provided they deliver the goods and on the evidence that I see week in and week out, since January Keith Hill doesn't appear to be able to deliver. I don't want excuses - short of finance, injury crisis or whatever. I seem to remember issues with injuries last season and I don't just mean the Butterfield injury for which no one connected with the Club could have done anything about. Edwards missing most of last season, a no-show again this season. We sign a patently unfit Mido and he breaks down injured pre-season. The decision to sign both players rests solely with Keith Hill, the buck stops with him. Also we struggled defensively last season and the very late purchase of one defender to shore up one of the worst defences in the division last season again leads me to question Keith Hill's judgement. The shortage of money and the lack of money making ideas at the Club is indicative of other issues above Keith Hill and until these are resolved I'm not sure any manager would thrive at Oakwell and this for me makes this a needless survey. For me the Club is where it was in the late seventies when an ambitious Board pushed the boat out to sign Allan Clarke and kick started the revival at Oakwell after all those years treading water under Mel Machin. Are we happy to aim for survival in the Championship, do we accept our fate and prepare for life in the lower reaches of the Football League or can we find the enterprise and initiative currently on display at Huddersfield Town? Stadium sponsorship by John Smiths whose name was emblazoned large on the Brewery Stand at Oakwell all those years ago. A tie-up with Virgin Atlantic. All down to a young Chairman with not just money but an ambition for his Club. For those who haven't read it I recommend John Dennis' book where he talks about a Board composed of young, energetic Barnsley based businessmen with a vision for the Club. That's what Barnsley FC lacks right now and until that's restored no manager, Keith Hill or otherwise will thrive at Oakwell.
The future of the club depends on the youth system we have going,if that fails then so will the club,in recent years from other managers nothing has happened on that front,I feel with Keith Hill it has some chances, already some young players are coming through, good players too. Having said that I think the problem now is Keith doesn`t seem tactically aware,we play 2 men in the middle and cannot keep the ball.I`ve always believed the job of the midfield is to stop their attackers getting to our defenders,we have two men out of the flanks, one in the middle (Jacob Mellis who I think is a great player)but is an attacking midfield player, there to give our attackers the ball leaving just one defending midfield player, the one who has played the last few games not good enough. So the way I am looking at it the defence are not protected thats why we are conceding so often..............so a YES to keith Hill
A big yes for me and for a multitude of reasons. On its own, this site will determime naff all. If the fans have any influence and I believe they do, then this site may play a part but a minor one. It does not necessarily represent the normal BFC fan per say.
That might have something to do with the present situation at the club and the high probability that many other managers we could attract wouldn't keep us up either. In Hill we have the best chance of staying up, of developing the young players and of breaking even. If we've got any sense we should stick with him.
How do we know someone else won't keep us up though? I'd say we do have a chance of attracting another manager as there are plenty of managers out of work. To be honest, we have missed the chance to sack him now as I think doing it three games into the season would be madness - no matter how bad I think he is. Might as well give him two months to see if he can turn things round. If we are looking like relegation candidates come the end of November then I would get rid to give the new manager time to turn things round and assess the squad. If we are in a comfortable mid table position I will be over the moon, I will hold my hands up and say fair play to the bloke. The financial thing is getting old now though. People are just using it as a justification every time we fail.
you say 'I think he's the best manager we have had in my life time'........unless you are under 2 yrs ,which is a possibility, you are totally deluded ,which is stating the obvious. Would I sack Hill at the moment ,no, do I think its a possibility he'll be sacked in the next 12 months, quite possibly. If results continue as they have been over the last 6 months will you be on here calling for Hill,Cryne,Rowing, the half time draw man, to be tarred and feathered.......absolutely nailed on old cocker
That post doesn't really deserve a response. It's probably even dafter than the old "could you do better?"
Well the owner of Barnsley Football Club obviously thinks Hill is doing a good job, and its a good job he doesnt read the opinions of Conan Tithead otherwise we'd have a new manager every week
