Thanks Jay, I appreciate that. It was something I said in the heat of the moment and I am sure I will continue posting. I'd just got back from the hospital and read TM's reply and just lost it.

As someone else said earlier in another thread, there is a side to you on here that is really good and I get on with, and there is a side at times which can get a bit carried away and personal and it is very different from the usual Jay. I am just being completely honest. We've all got **** going on in our lives no doubt and nobody is perfect, I understand that. And I know you come from a good place with your views, we just differ at times on how to deal with a problem.

I shouldn't have said you were horrible and I apologise for that.

In my non-humble opinion, it's a matter of sticking to the argument.

Not picking on the individual (unless it's Jimmy Viz obviously - troll troll)

You can - and must - stick to your views on here. No point posting otherwise.

The wisest man ever to post on here - Young Nudger - always advised to play the ball not the man. Sadly his words never travelled down his leg.

Be prepared to accept you're wrong . I don't like that. But I'm wrong so often that it doesn't hurt to say so these days.

Since the pandemic started, I have been called selfish and accused of wanting people to die.

What's funny about that is not once have I demanded anybody do anything, or sacrifice anything to 'protect' me. Or to make me FEEL safe...

I've argued agaisnt Vaccine passports even though I'm hugely I favour of the vaccine programme.
I've argued agasint lockdown for the sake of the damage it has caused in other areas, even now we are still seeing the impact of it.
I still believe the measures taken in 2020 to combat the Virus would/have caused more harm than the virus itself.
I accept people will disagree with me, most us are set in our opinions and it takes a lot to dissuade us.
For example I had someone on Twitter a bit back telling me how illogical for ignoring the evidence on vaccine passports only to tell me they couldn't reply anymore as they were off to church obviously the irony was lost on them.
This isn't aimed at you but I do think some people on both "sides" of this debate are so entrenched they won't even consider alternative viewpoints. I genuinely consider all the time if I've got it wrong on any of the above (well not the religion part) and just maybe I'm too focused on all the negative side effects of the measures that have been taken, but its a long list of damage that's been done.

I occasionally block people who I don't want to argue with because I respect their opinion on other issues. If they're blocked I can't get dragged into arguments I don't really want.
I've never blocked certain others because I don't respect much of what they say and I feel they should be challenged.
I try never to post links to anything unless I'm as sure as I can be that it's fact. Casual Tyke has posted a load of absolute rubbish about the US in the past and got away scot free. When I saw him post something today that he was using to put a slant on things again I had a go.
I wish we had an admin that had the time and manpower to fact check what is posted on here in terms of links. It's not their fault that we don't. It would save a lot of argument if they could though.
There's always two sides to most stories and a truth somewhere in the middle. I'm not in favour of forced vaccination. Neither am I in favour of people not doing their bit to help and expecting to be treated exactly the same as those who do.
Anyway, I'm rambling. My main point though is that I wish people were a lot more careful with the links they post on this subject or any other.
Right, I'm off to read me book.

See I would like to think i'm somewhere in the middle with it all.

I've always said no more lockdowns once we've got a vaccine, then we learn to live with it. For gigs and concerts etc, either a passport or a neg lat flow test when cases are high are ok, but I would never make passports or vaccinations mandatory. I don't feel any of that is unreasonable. Nobody should be pushed or forced to do anything other than basic precautions for others.

OK, to put this in some kind of perspective...

I know what the Australian government is like because I have a girlfriend in Australia. I was in Australia in March 2020. I got one of the last flights out. A couple of days after, that was it, no one was coming in or out. I'd already paid the ridiculous 9 grand to move there and get married to my girlfriend. But I have to be back in my country when I receive that visa. I got the visa. And I had 9 months to go out there and get married. But I wasn't allowed to go because no one is allowed to go to Australia because of Covid. So my visa elapsed and they won't reimburse me. And I'm nine grand down and can't see my girlfriend. How do you like them apples.

Grow up Churton! You and nurse Gladys are really starting to sound pathetic. Got away scot free? What are you proposing? A public lashing on the town hall steps because I don't agree with mandatory vaccinations and quarantine camps?

Yeah, that is ****. And it is **** that they won't use a bit of common sense and extend your visa, even if not reimbursing you.

I spoke to a lady from Australia last year who was stranded over here. She had a husband and two youngish kids. She'd come back to see her folks as one of her parents was dying, then couldn't get home. It was horrendous.

At one point there was over 250,000 Australians in the same position as the woman you spoke to. Stranded overseas. I believe there's still 50,000.

A colleague of my girlfriend is from Nepal. Both her mum and dad died within a week, back in Nepal. She couldn't leave to attend to their affairs and the funerals because she wouldn't be allowed back.

Yeah, to be fair I am. You made out you were some kind of renowned medical authority and the only person qualified to assess the validity of medical studies and it turns out you're a nurse.

I just don't get why people can't quarantine then be released, especially nationals.

You won't be getting any bites from me, nice try though. Proud to be a nurse.

Damn right. Well done. Hell of a profession. Always be proud.Thank you, and I mean this, because there are more nurses than I care to mention who have held my hand when I've been in a desperate situation. I don't know all their names, but I know their faces.

Not a post to curry favour after an argument, a genuine response.

No neither really. Just a statement of underwhelming fact.
I don't expect you to bite. You sound like a bit of an emotional wreck if I'm honest.

There's nothing wrong with being a nurse. It's your arrogant implication that I was unqualified to comment on a published medical study earlier in this thread that I'm calling out.

It definitely needs a compromise as refusing to accept a recent negative test is clearly just a attempt to push people into getting a vaccine. It probably has been successful it's not one I feel particularly comfortable with.

Probably am an emotional wreck at the moment, think that's pretty understandable though. Enjoy your eve.

Raising 2 disabled Children and now having a wife who has spent time in hospital with her mental health i can only echo this. Nurses and the rest of the support staff in the health service are what keep it going, keep people safe and make some of the most horrible of times bearable.
When my wife was in hospital I found myself one day sat in the car after visiting unable to face driving home to the kids. I sat having a little cry in the car, one of the nurses saw me and insisted I come in for cuppa and she sat with me for 10 mins and reassured me. As I collected myself I apologised for keeping her as she must be busy. She said her shift had finished and she was on her way home when she saw Me.
Astonishing levels of patience and Compassion I can't even imagine.
