Bruce Dyer. Felt sorry for linesmen when he was in the team. Sure they must have put in claims for repeteitive strain injury.

I'm not quite sure why Hassell's getting a mention, you don't really hear people talk about him as been a top player or anything like that. I don't see people making out he was top quality, he's just a decent, solid pro who was very loyal to us in an era where you don't get many of that kind anymore.

Over rated? Craig Davies, one of the worst 1st touches I've seen from a championship striker & although he'd score the odd cracker like Leeds at home & Bolton away he didn't half waste a lot of opportunities with his Hollywood shooting.

I think I was about the only one delighted when Bolton took him off our hands.

YES! I was going to post the same. Lots loved him, but I thought stupid red cards cost us plenty of points during his time here.

Chris Barker was certainly up there for me too.

Leon Knight. Came here with much fanfare from Swansea and was perhaps not only the smallest, most abject looking forward we have ever had. He was terrible.

So - my answer is quite literal.

Which player did Barnsley think was brilliant - the one we rated extremely highly - but the one with the biggest gap between how high we rated them, and how good they actually were.

    Neil Redfern.

Now - first of all calm down and put your knickers back on - like I said this is a literal answer.

I think most people can spot a **** player - so most players there's not much difference between how high we rated them and how good they were.

There are some notable exceptions, both ways. Sheron in my view was better than the team and better than most people thought he was. It's just 50% of the time he was three moves ahead 50% of the time he'd given up on ever getting any service - so always looked ****

Nardiello, Hristov, Istvan, Richards, McCourt, Lumsden, Davies - showed flashes of something they couldn't sustain - which makes us nostalgic and wear those rose tinted spectacles.

However - Redders is probably in everyones opinion one of the top 5 players we've had at the club. He probably is in the top 5 players we've had at the club.

But when we were in the premier league we thought he should be playing for England.

    He wasnt' that good.

His goals tally is bloated by penalties and free kicks. His first touch was dubious. The number of times he should have passed but chose to go it alone was unforgivable at times for a midfielder. His long pass could have been better. He wasn't quite fast enough.

But we thought he was a god

    And I still do.

But we probably think he was 99 out of a 100 - when in reality he's about 82.
