    NO they fu--ing should not change there name.

    The whole campaign was started by a certain Indian tribesman who is a multi millionaire, due to the 15 casinos he owns. He does **** all for his tribe.

    Most native Americans want the Redskins to keep there name, Dan Snyder the Redskins owner has stated 100s of times he will NEVER change the name.

    AS a Redskins fan along with all my family in the USA, we actually think the PC brigade/congress will win and force this to happen.WE WILL CALL THEM THE REDSKINS WHATEVER happens.
    The Washington Post ran a comp to find a new name, the Washington Potatoe skins got our vote.

    If it does happen the BRAVES,BLACKAWKS can get ready they will be next. The Redskins name hasnt offended anyone for 90 years and then all of a sudden 1 dick with some cash says its derogatory.

    American teams move around all the time and change their names though, it's not football teams over here.

    It's not quite that simple though is it? From doing a bit of reading it looks like there has been opposition to it for the last 20 years or so. It seems to me that the name is a derogatory epithet for a native American - if a native American moved in down the road from you and you wanted to describe him to another neighbour would you call him "the redskin?" I'm guessing you wouldn't as it's a bit distasteful, so why is it ok as a name for a sports team?

    But it's different to the Braves and Blackhawks - those aren't derogatory terms, although I do cringe every time I see the Braves fans doing the "Tomahawk chop".

    I do see both sides on this and sympathise with Redskins fans who don't, in any way, use it in a derogatory way...but ultimately I think the time has come to change it.

    I suppose you'd have to ask the native american school's who's sports teams are called the redskins why they feel it is ok

    What are they going to change it to?

    Washington Palefaces?
    Washington Sheepskins?
    Washington Rednecks?

    Is there already a Washington Warriors as that would seem the best fit.
