Open, expansive, attacking, entertaining football Clearly by having no attacking threat and boring the **** out of anyone still awake enough to care...
So Bree and Williams right back? Can't put Evans there really. Templeton midfielder? Need full backs ASAP
Afraid me and LJ don't agree there then mate ha. Less depth than my swimming pool. I haven't got a swimming pool.
At least LJ knows what I've been saying for sooooo long. Hourihane is totally unable to play in a 2 man midfield so we have to compensate by playing 3 in there which means we can only play 1 up top, i.e playing our best player (Winnall) on the left towards the end of the season. He needs to work extremely hard on his allround game because he is a) not good enough for a higher level and b) unsettles the balance of our side. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
LJ is shaping up to be another Keith Hill in the talking nonsense department. Whether he can hit the Flitcroft standard is a different matter.
Cant see anybody in the championship restructuring their whole balance and formation to fit in a player who is half decent on set pieces but doesnt give much more. On the LJ - Flitcroft comparison, his 'due diligence' and 'triggers on the pitch' are fast getting on my ****ing nerves. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Exactly this. However, I don't think Johnson's idea of 3-5-2 is the same as ours. We picture what Wilson played, with either Bullock, Marcelle or Liddell behind the front two, a box to box midfielder in Redfearn and an anchor in Sheriden. Hourihane behind the front two, Scowen box to box and Pearson in the holding role from what we've got now. But I think Johnson reckons we'd need two holding players in the anchor role and one to play box to box. It'd be unrecognisable compared to what we remember, so maybe it's a blessing that we won't see it.
I thought our best performance under Johnson was a home to Preston. We played a midfield two of Hourihane and Bailey.
We did play well that game, Bailey was terrific and Hourihane had one of the better games I remember from him, O Sullivan played very centrally that day as well though and was the best player on the pitch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hourihane would be excellent in a 3-5-2. It's the way we got the best out of Mellis who has similar strengths & weaknesses
