Andrea Silenzi's brother. I didn't go to the game in question, but when we asked Shirley inthe club shop what he was like, she just raised her eyebrows and said that she hoped he was good at making pizzas as it was the only thing anyone in England would be likely to employ him for.

    Jarni Salli?

My memory is poor but I thought he looked promising but got injured early on in his Barnsley career?

Disagree totally re. Salli. I believe if he hadn't been injured in the FA Cup (against !!!!!!) we would not have been relegated.

Have a look at that centenery season that we got to Wembley and see if we'd have got there without VDL's early season goals.

That's a bit harsh, I reckon he could have become a star player for Barnsley without the knee injury that practically ended his professional career. (Wasn't it some cup game against Leeds?! What a coincidence...) He was just about to break through in the Finnish national team when that happened too.

If we hadn't lost Janne Salli and perhaps Steve Hayward to injuries in 2001/02, I think we would have stayed up that season...

Didn't he make a come back after the injury but got injured again?

I maybe wrong but I'm sure that's how I remember it.
