hatchback vw polo. Stripped it down and rebuillt and resprayed black with a bright green go faster stripe on it!
I think I've only ever sat in the driver's seat of a car when I've been looking for something, so I've never owned a car. Now that I can't feel my hands and feet any more it's probably not the time to start learning to drive! I do, however, probably have the best toy Batmobile collection in Oxspring if that counts?
An old red Mini, in 1984, ten years old when I got it, just before the strike started. Had motorcycle indicators fitted at the front as the rust had got to the front ones. Great to drive and spin round in the snow, but like driving a tank in Winter as you could only see through a tiny slit as the heating system was crap. Sold for £25 to some scumbags who never registered it and I got fine after fine posted to me for unpaid parking from the Alhambra car park, Barnsley council, and elsewhere.
First parents car- Ford Fiesta 1.4 in brown and beige. Lovely When my dad passed away I inherited his MAZDA 323 V6 which was **** of a shovel Never bought a car on my own, but me and our lass bought an Audi A3 2.0T which I guess has to be my answer to the question.
Mk 2 Escort estate in Terra Cotta FWA158V. Air con (holes in the floor n dash) , leather seats (the cushion that you had to sit on cos the seat springs had gone was leather) ,1 speed wipers, 1.3 engine that did a record 108 downhill on the M1 near Mansfield.....reight babe magnet
E reg Ford Fiesta 1.6 Diesel.... Remember putting 8 quid in the tank, driving down to the motor show in London and back..still having half the fuel left...lol Brilliant car, just lacked the poke you need to ascend steep hills.
1987 VW Polo, 1.3 in red. Had those bars on the top like a roof rack. Bought in 93 I think. Previous to that I had a part share, along with some mates, in a maroon vauxhall chevette, think that was a 1.6 on a V plate, it was bought with grass tracking in mind but it never raced and I only drove it once, it just sat on my mechanic mates drive while he tinkered with it, that was about 1988.
Ford Fiesta 950cc - Registration C245 XTR - in beige. It was pictured in chronicle with me driving through a massive puddle down wakefield road. Was a really wet Sunday where it flooded at bottom of Carlton Hill and flooded the Sportsman Pub.
A MK2 Ford Escort 1.3, put some drop leaf springs on and a twin carbs, had some fun in Locke Park car park with my girlfriend. Better be careful what I write her brother posts on her !!
1983 (A reg) Mark 3 Ford Escort bought in 1998. The clutch gave up on the way up to Glasgow on the A66. The nearest emergency phone didn't work so I ended walking about a mile up the carridge way and luckily found a pay phone that had three German tourists rammed in. Half an hour later I manage to put call through to the AA only to find my membership had run out and I didn't have a credit card. My parents were on holiday in France at he time but thankfully my mother had just got a mobile phone so I phoned her and got her credit card number and susquently rejoined the AA. They sent someone out and stated that it couldn't be fixed so I got it towed to my Uncles in Lanarkshire who said his mate will have look. A few days later his mate had fixed it and I picked up the car for my return journey back to Barnsley. I joined the M74 going South and immediately thought it was a little foggy only to work out a minute of so later that the 'fog' was indeed smoke coming from my bonnet. I pulled over and opened the bonnet to find my engine on fire. I managed to put it out by wafting my cardigan at it. There were no emergency phones nearby but knew there was a hotel about 10 minutes walk down the motorway. I once again called the AA out who once again stated they couldn't fix it at the roadside and luckily stated it was a different fault so I got a two all the way back down to Barnsley. My Dad's mate - who was a mechanic - had a look at the car and stated that it should be put out of it's misery. Still to this day my most favourite car I owned even though it did only have a radio (and no cassette player).
