First car I ever drove. H reg fiesta 1.1 pop plus. 4 gears and a manual choke.

H39 SWW was the reg number as I remember.

First car I actually owned; Toyota mr2 on a P plate. I've still got it.

    1975 Vauxhall Viva 1256cc

    Given to me in 1985.

Blue with a black vinyl roof.

Once got pulled by plod for having the tattiest car they had ever seen though they could find no fault other than a rusty wing.

Fixed the wing with some squashed cans and filler only for the rain to turn the filler into an artex finish.

    It was utter *****.

Had a Cortina mk 4 2.0l twin webber carbs after that. Went like stink in a straight line, turning corners was a bit dodgy.

Cheers kev seeing that brought back some good memories and a couple of painfull ones lol ....due to it being 2 door the front seats tipped forward to allow entrance to the back seat, gave you some space when doing you know what on the back seat ....very very painfull when both seats drop at the same time on your heels....trust me it hurt.....lol...never happened again...lol....string noose and coat hanger hooks in glove compartment solved that problem

Still have mine, had it 6 years now. 2003 Fiat Punto, mechanically perfect upto last year which was my fault really. Little bits keep breaking on it though, hand brake, windscreen wipers, passenger seat doesn't move, passenger side seat belt has lost its button to keep the clip at the top so its a mission for anyone who gets in to find the seat belt, radio packed in, glove box jammed shut, I have to change my right side tail light every 6months or so, drinks oil, engine management light occasionally comes on, as does the brake warning light, steering lock sometimes takes a lot of effort to take off, the door locks are broken at both sides so unlocking the car is a mission, power steering pleases itself on occasion, oh and I have to rev the nuts off it on cold mornings to get it started.

Other than that sound little runabout

    £400 ONO

    Orange Mark 2 VW Golf.

Somewhat bizarrely I insisted that it ram its thrusting front end into the bottom of a Cortina.

Thus was it replaced by Shanks's Pony for a while
