RE: Sounds good to me

thank goodness for some common sense-he watches one training session and makes huge assumptions. Unless you were there ALL the time it's ridiculous to base your views on a snapshot like this

    RE: Sounds good to me

Training activities that look like fun / easy going from us, is actually beneficial for the players!!

After reading the actual coaching material and speaking to my Uncle who is a UEFA qualified coach, you will be surprised at the amount of activities that are very, very simple and end of day make training look like a 'piss take.
By having the players in small teams, in a small space makes them work closer togethor and concentrate more on what they are doing!!!

Well that's no different to any other club in the leagues, including the Premiership. What's your point exactly?? [IMG]

    RE: Sounds good to me

that sounds spot on to me - knowing absolutely nothing about coaching myself, i would have thought the key to it is managing to get something out of it whilst making it fun and enjoyable for the players.

maybe thats why they like AR so much, amongst other things. the assertion that ritchie is coming down and letting them piss about all morning playing head tennis is ridiculous.

the fact is that he has managed to get the best out of a bunch of players - that isn't achieved by pissing about playing kick ups , FA doubles and kicking balls against a wall.

Sounds like that training schedule you set up should come into play.

10am should be to listen to 102.5 fm Pulse top 10 at 10 to get the feel good factor. Maybe chuck in watching either Jeremy Kyle or Loose Women so that the players know life could be worse. Some sort of team bonding exercise would be cool. Maybe a night out around Barnsley....No they already do that 2 or 3 times a week.

    quality

maybe if they do go out drinking on a team night, we could introduce some type of binge teaching in the morning where they have to all drink seven shots of whiskey and drink a pint of warm beer at 5am with the hangover, that'll deter the pesky kids from drinking and wearing leather jackets.

I can't believe that we're 3rd bottom of the league with all the coaches and managers that read this site. We ought to be thrashing Real Madrid in't Champions League.

    Can't get my fvcking breath.

    I Just Think......

that if i wasn't getting the results i am paid to get at work. That i would knuckle down and try harder to do so. Whilst i cannot speak for Barnsley players. But footballers in general are more bothered about clubbing then the football team.

There are plenty of good coaches down at the club, you only have to go watch some of the young lads being coached...

I'm talking about teaching 6 year olds the basics in passing etc, its mega, they've got the patience of a saint

His point is that he's never wanted Ritchie as manager and is revelling in the fact we are struggling at the moment because in his mind it justifies his viewpoint and he'll pick up on anything to reinforce it.

    astonishing

2 days before a game (2 days after one too). bit of light work maybe? could it be that coaching new things like defensive systems takes more than a couple of days and in fact has the propensity to confuse players if they don't have the time to embed it before a game comes up? no couldn't be could it.

maybe a bit of light training, help the morale before coaching on set pieces/finishing/passing takes place?

as a coach you should know these things and consider these as options. as a football fan you should know that fergie, allardyce etc use football tennis as part of their training. loads of managers also join in training. leading from the front perhaps? showing them that he can do the things that he asks them to do

you will also, as a coach, know that football tennis helps with 1st touch, agility, reflexes and reaction speed

    Load of rubbish.

2 days after & before an important game I always imagine the players will smear their faces in animal droppings before setting off on a 40km cross country hike - whilst being intermittently poked with big sticks.

This morale business is well over-rated.
A team like ours, who spend millions on the best players, doesn't need such hocus pocus ways.

I can see Johnnycoachdriver getting back from holiday, with a schedule for how his Missus is going to clean his clothes & get them back into the wardrobe.
He sacked his last wife for not having his purple farrahs & lemon tank top hung up 8 hours after landing.

    Dirk is nearly correct ...

... Mr Couchman didn't want Ritchie, then wanted him sacking for not getting us up automatically, then he said he'd done okay for a sequence of games, then wanted him offering a new contract for being the best Manager on earth, then he decided that he didn't like him because he wouldn't spend Gords millions, then he wanted him sacking again & his coaching badges burning.

If we win a few games I fully expect Johnny Boy to be demanding that Gord give Andy a 4 billion year contract.
