And how many times Frog, do we think a new loan signing has had a really good first couple of games. Then the club have to make a decision of course, do we act quickly and try to sign him now... or do we stay patient and see the loan out, and risk somebody else signing him, etc!. That admittedly is where I can see it's a tough job to do, and it's one of many tough decisions they have to make, and some fans will have a go no matter what.
Exactly mate. Plenty last season was saying get the keeper Roberts permanently before someone else does after his first half season performances, but had we actually spent a couple of 100k on buying him, especially with such a short term contract left, imagine how our fans would be now after that second half of season performance! Edit - BTW I thought Roberts was exceptional and by far and away the best keeper in the league before Jan. He was unbelievably good and saved us so many points. But just goes to show how hard it is sometimes making decisions which ultimately could cost the club big time if mistakes happen
Yeah, and look at Chris Lumsdon ehh!!!. A great loan spell, and surely every fan wanted us to sign him... And then he was such a disappointment after completing the deal. And yeah as for Roberts the keeper, maybe he flattered a bit in the first third of the Collins season, and he really saved us so many league points of course. But from half way on into the new year and beyond, it's like he was a different keeper altogether, with no confidence and skill etc.
To be fair to him I do seem to remember he was playing with an injury mind, but if he did keep those first half of season performances up he'd probably be in prem now haha. But yeah goes to show how tricky the transfer window can be mate. I mean look at Hammill, legend for us, but just couldn't cut it elsewhere, sometimes a player just fits at a certain club
He is a good young player and wants to become a professional. However, scoring a hat trick against Basford on New Year’s Day and then the following week a good Leek Town’s defence kept him out beating Ilkeston 2-0 in their own back yard. It’s a tough league at this level and even a step up to the Conference North would be tough learning curve for him. Certainly not league 1 so it is a No from me.
What are the actual risks of it though bud? Look at Kone at Wycombe. Worked absolute wonders for them.
May have been Dylan Leonard at Western Utd(play in green n black), just broke into their first team at 17, big lad and good on the ball. We have a decent 19yr old CB at Adelaide Utd as well called Panagiotis Kikianis, a bit more of a thinking mans CB, pretty good on the ball, played u18 and u20 for Australia.
