Then add in all the annual leave and NHS pension, they can earn 20% to 40% extra with their normal rotas.
Yes... We are well looked after with our all-round package. The tory's have tried to put a dent in this occasionally over the last few years but have failed. Most recently in 2017 when they wanted us to forfeit a days holiday under their proposed pay deal. We refused and won. You have to be careful though when discussing this in case a lefty to the left of the left sees it. Vein popping.
Translates to: "If they work unsociable hours that are known to be detrimental to their health, they can earn a wage over the national average". Hands up who wants tired nurses working long hours just to get an average wage? Not me. And as is well known, most nurses would prefer more staff first, not better pay. Clearly this kind of sound logic makes me some Marxist "left of left" nutter. Right?
They dont have to work long hours, they did 37.5hrs on a rota through the month and earned well above their basic salary.
Working unsociable hours on late/mixed shits is essentially the same thing given the effect it has on the body. It leaves people tired and physically more prone to illness. Medical fact. Even during training we've got 2nd year nurses working extra placement hours to earn money between shifts to pay for their fees/rent/food etc. the levels of stress, anxiety, illness, depression etc. is quite apparent to me (I deal with absences). They drop out and the NHS ends up with less nurses. Great huh?
Can we help to make this happen .?????? When i heard this mentioned on the news you couldnt help shed a tear . Proper Yorkshireman to be proud of
I dont think you know the in and outs of their pay enough, theres a lot of extras that go into their pay. The rotas that l used to pay gave a nurse plenty of recovery between shifts. Unsocial hrs were paid at a third which meant someone doing a hr or so over their shift (a normal working day for everyone else) would get extra pay. I dont get any extra for working an hr over for example and theres plenty of other professions that dont either. I ain't getting into an argument but I've paid over 25 different professions over a 20 year career in it so I'm fairly well versed - they get a lot more than a lot of other professions where entry level requires a lot more qualifications. I'm not knocking the job they're doing mind, l just think that if they think their pays bad, theres also a lot of other professions seriously underpaid. Mine for one
3rd year students have been thrown straight into full time work and still.have their uni assignments to do
My friends a midwife and she doesn't get breaks ( tgatxsge should take) and regularly stays over time. No extra pay.
Correct. My other half is a nurse in A&E and we have some very balanced and informative discussions about the NHS, the way it is run and how things could be improved. It is pointless discussing it with the vein poppers.
Keighley. He served in The Duke of Wellingtons regiment (now known as 3rd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment).
Should be Sir Tom. Both for his service with the army and his fundraising. These are the deserving heroes of our country, not someone riding a pushbike guzzling asthma remedies.
