Obviously there is, but given it'll be above freezing most of today and tomorrow morning, as well as sunny, they'll probably want to give it every chance before making a decision.
Cheltenham carlisle off tomorrow n they had covers on pitch guess will depend on temperatures this evening if goes ahead
BBC site says it will be -1 from 5pm till 3am.Allthough I cannot go I hope an early decision is made to save the fans. 09:30 at the latest .
Where exactly do people think Stevenage is? Its 90 minutes on the train from Doncaster or 140 miles in the car, not Outer Mongolia. You can leave Donny at 1 and be in the ground for kick-off (depending on your walking pace - its a mile from the station to the ground).
If you fancy relying on public transport to get you anywhere in this country, then be my guest. Twice it took over 6 hours on the train from Gatwick Airport to Wokingham (where I used to live). "Luckily" this was on the way back from holiday. If it had been on the way to the airport I would have missed my flight both times. For the record it's approximately 50 miles door to door. No way would I be leaving at 1 pm for a 3 pm kick off, over 150 miles away. Utter madness and no chance of being there for kickoff
Scott that's all well and good for drivers; what about the official coaches that are scheduled to depart around 9?
Official coaches leave at 10:30. Most people should be back home for 12 if it's called off at 11! Not the end of the world.
Massively different to 9 though isn't it? I get why people are mad, I do, but not sure what people expect them to do? If you do it too early you'll not be able to asses what the pitch will look like at 3pm will you? Who's waking up at 7 for a 10:30 coach?
It's not only the fans, it's the knock-on peripheral effect. Several coach drivers might be getting paid for a day when they could be stood down in good time if it's off. Not a small amount I would have thought for businesses trying to keep their heads above water. That's only one example.
Again though, what's the solution? The covers come off at 9am. Bring them off much earlier and it'll be too cold and pointless. They'll be able to get a decent idea of what it'll look like at that point, but I imagine they'll then need to monitor it over the next couple of hours to see if it's thawing properly and be able to predict what it'll be like at 3.
Stop splitting hairs. You know what I mean. Plus the Courthouse Coach IS setting off at 7 am, so they'll need to be getting up at 6.....
