Re: You've hit the nail on the head He has a far better 'keeper on the bench but doesn't want to play him, regardless of how badly the current incumbent is doing.
'He doesn't want to play him' Really? It couldn't be a professional decision, based on the overall form of Alnwick this season and, possibly, Steele's lack of fitness? You may well be correct in your assessment. I'm not a mind reader so I haven't the foggiest idea whether Hill wants to play anyone to the detriment of the team. That would insinuate he would rather we lose than pick a fit & in form player. To me, that smacks of an argument usually found in a school playground.
Re: 'He doesn't want to play him' Agree big lil. Watched him against Leicester and he wasn't up to it then but that was weeks ago.
Re: 'He doesn't want to play him' What I should have said is "chooses" not to play him. I find that worrying because Alnwick is not good enough at this level.
It goes with the territory As far as the manager is concerned, with regards to team selection. If Luke Steele is fit and available, personally I'd select him. I don't think there's been a manager at Barnsley where I agreed with his choices, even when we've had successful promotion winning sides. The manager gets paid to make those decision, but it doesn't mean, as a fan, I have to agree with him.
Re: It goes with the territory Looking those goals yesterday, I'd say Luke should be recalled. I don't believe for a minute there is any dispute between Luke and Keith Hill, I'm sure he would have started the season if fit. There is a lingering doubt whether Luke wants to stay with us or make his push now for the premier league, where, as we all agree he has the ability to one day play. If he decides to move on, he has to be replaced and I would suspect Alnwick is being allowed the to time to gain experience to enable him to take over the number 1 jersey should Luke go.
I'm a bit confused. There were 7 or 8,000 Barnsley fans there yesterday just like there were last year when we were utter ***** and the year before and the year before that and even when we were in league one etc. By your very definition these must all be FANS as they go when we're **** as well as when we're good. Exactly how many of those there yesterday only go when we are playing well? Anyone? Once again we have a happy clapper 'better fan' spouting utter ********.
Silva did play yesterday, but in my opinion should not have played as he was labouring on his left side all the time, so when long balls sent to him to chase down looked as though he was in pain whilst chasing Did well in the close ball contact though, but no way ready IMO
