Nudger and others are referring to a statement providing an update on the search for a new manager and or player recruitment. My view is that a statement isn’t required as it’s evident that said search is ongoing which everyone is well aware of.

The questions raised by you above are not questions which would be answered in a brief statement regarding Jose’s successor or player recruitment.

    I hope yer right.
Because if the owners believe that the people that post on here are a typical cross section of the fans then they are going to believe the fans are a reight set of daft negative bleeders.
That’s other than me of course.

As for 10,000 fan base - over the decades I’ve seen more than that number stop going to games.
For all those that’s been going to the WELL for ages then they will know what I mean here.
Sit in the stand and look round.
How many are still there from a few years ago?

Barnsley has LOST a large number of supporters over this last 14 years of the PC era.

I think you'd have to go back a long way to say that you've seen regular attendees slip by in excess of 10K. Apart from the giddy days of Premier League football and the seasons immediately following that our support, at least in the Championship, didn't fluctuate unduly in Patrick Cryne's era. The first season we spent in the Championship under his tenure we pulled in an average of 12,700 and the last full season under his tenure saw an average of 13,900. Yes there was a blip after the 2009/10 season but not by anything like you're suggesting.

    17/18 Championship Relegation Season, 13,700
    16/17 Championship 13,900
    15/16 League 1 Promotion season 9,500
    14/15 League 1 9,800
    13/14 Championship 11,600
    12/13 Championship 10,200
    11/12 Championship 10,300
    10/11 Championship 11,900
    09/10 Championship 13,000
    08/09 Championship 13,200
    07/08 Championship 11,500
    06/07 Championship 12,700
    05/06 League 1 Promotion season 9,000
    04/05 League 1 9,800
    03/04 League 1 9,600
    02/03 League 1 9,800
    01/02 Championship Relegation season 13,300
    00/01 Championship 14,500
    99/00 Championship Play-Off season 15,400
    98/99 Championship 16,300
    97/98 Premier League season 18,400
    96/97 Championship Promotion season 11,400

Using facts and talking sense will not go down well on this board.

Sorry nudger, I agree with some of what you're saying but we've not lost fans. If we had that would assume that 14 years ago we were getting crowds of 20, 000 plus. We weren't. We were getting about what we're getting now.

although the population of the UK in 2004 was 59 million and it is now 67 million so we should have hoped to gain 1,300 fans

I think he was suggesting that we have lost fans who have been replaced by new ones.

Well I have been attending since 1961 & recent attendances although not the highest are pretty good , there is always a turn around in faces , people die , move away , circumstances change but to counter that , there are new generations what come along & younger fans start to grow up & join the throng whilst others find other interests , its a big cycle . I actually think our fan base has recovered in recent years & we are doing well with our support but your point about not seeing the same faces means little , as long as the numbers keep coming , thats what counts

Yes , he stated he stopped going in january & was going to review it this summer . Regarding people"s faces changing where he sits ( when in attendance ) , well over the last 50 years I have had season tickets in various places , on the paddock , east stand upper , ponty end , west stand upper & now west stand lower , people move about , not everyone stops going

I agree with that. My opinion is that the questions I raised should have been answered in a statement of intent after we were relegated as for updates about manager recruitment I don't really see what hey can say

What it means is that the gates fluctuate slightly -but this doesn’t reflect how many different supporters go through the gates throughout a season.
For example - the average gate may be 11,000 but the number of different fans throughout the season may be 20,000.
In other words - theres not been that much over this last 14 years to keep the supporters interested.
Many drift in and out of going to games.
I know quite a number that don’t go to matches now.

Sorry YN , you are rambling , at the end of the day there will always be commited fans & there will always be casual fans & over the period of time you are referring to , our support has not dwindled & has actually held up well
