He won each of them on a different day of the week. Lytham 1979 on Saturday when that was the normal last day. St Andrews 1984 on Sunday on what has now become the usual last day. Lytham 1988 on Monday after the previous day has been washed out by torrential rain.
Yep, Reading was 20th October (Tuesday night), then Man City on the Saturday and then Stoke the following Saturday (31st).
Yeah it was Cambridge that season, twice in the League, once in the Fa cup, and twice in the two legged League cup. But the first home leg was abandoned because of torrential rain.
Before Germany in '94, who were the last team to win their opening match in the World cup, as defending champions ?.
Are you googling these lol. Yeah amazingly it was us/England back in '70. When I first heard this I thought it was Allan Clarke's goal that beat Czekoslovakia, but Wikipedia says it was a win against Romania actually.
Ok you Tykes pop pickers, I think it's time to resurrect this Quiz show lol... so here goes... Which two teams did we beat in the Aug '87 bank holiday double fixtures, to put us on top of the Second Division table ?.
Bournemouth away on Bank Holiday Monday. Remember it like it was yesterday as I went with my Dad. It took us ages to get back home on the Monday night. This turned out to be the last away game with my Dad, which is why I remember it so vividly. Can't remember the home game though... BTW - I didn't think we were top on BH Monday. I thought we went top when we won the following Saturday. I'll have to check that one.
No sir lol, I think it was Bournemouth away on the Satdy, and then Plymouth at home on the Monday (maybe, I'm going on memory here as well lol).
Saturday 29th August - beat Crystal Palace home 2-1 Monday 31st August - beat Bournemouth away 2-1 Saturday 5th September - beat Plymouth home 2-1 to go top
Wow mate, you're getting me seriously thinking now lol, is my memory up to it lol. And I bet I could ask you loads of 80's Tykes questions ehh, like who scored a hat trick away at Hull on new years day '87.
