Netherlands rocking against a team that's prepared to take the game to them.

Get Arjan De Zeeuw on lol.
Hey, now he was a good Dutch player (at club level). :)
Btw, what was Danny Wilson thinking, when he signed both Van Der Velden and Ten Heuvel ?.

Technically Holland is only two regions within the Netherlands, but it was the area most tourists visited. In an attempt to attract more tourism to other areas the Dutch government dropped all use of "Holland" and now use Netherlands to more accurately include all regions within the country.

A few on here said how Switzerland would beat us in the run up to the game. Of course we've played better in the knockouts. We've just took out the side that easily beat the defending champions and kept a clean sheet in the process.

And to make things even more confusing, they're called the Dutch!

Turkey is also officially called Türkiye nowadays.

Jeez you don't half talk some cobblers. Look, I hope we win it. I'd love to see us win a second major tournament. But to keep trying to tell us that we're playing well and beating good sides...it's rubbish. The rest of the European media are saying how poor we've been. How negative. How we'd be a different team under a coach that would allow our players to play.
We've played five games. Tonight was marginally the best but please stop trying to make out we've played well. We've been very, very lucky so far.

Dutch stems back to when the language they spoke was known as ‘Low German’. The Germany of today didn’t exist and the majority of all people in that area were referred to as Dutch people. Deutsch for the specific type of German the Germans speak came later.

The name of the country hasn’t changed. It’s always been The Netherlands (it literally means low lying). I guess it’s kinda like foreigners referring to the whole of the UK as England.

It was known as Holland 700 years before a bit was added on and it became The Netherlands officially.
