I watched the live stream on tiktok, luckily there were some sensible elders there who calmed it down, otherwise it could have got really ugly. No NWA unfortunately.

 

So essentially, despite the tensions and potentially out of context provocative video... It was still a peaceful protest held by local people?

It's also worth noting that there is a huge history of tensions between GMP and the non white communities of Manchester and a there have been a number of alleged and proven cases of racism by GMP officers over the years. Including 8 officers suspended, and 1 charged this week. Yet still the protest was peaceful.

I'm not sure there's any legitimate comparison between the Rochdale protests against Greater Manchester Police by upset locals, and a Mosque in Southport being protected by Merseyside police from drunken yobs that came from out of town.

 

The only mitigating factor for him is that to stand in front of the police posturing like that he must have been completely p**sed. Maybe the alcohol helped kill the pain a bit.

Your right, there isn't a legitimate comparison, and I wasn't making one. I was wondering on how those hundreds of people who turned up to a police station to try and free their mate - including throwing stuff, and chanting "fk the police" and accusing the police of bein racist, felt, when the police put themselves in harms way to protect a Mosque a few days later.

 

I imagine they didn't relate the two events at all. Like the rest of us

 

There’s probably not much thinking going on amongst any of the youths and also people that are old enough to know better in all these disturbances, regardless of ethnicity or religion.

They’re like coiled springs, ready to kick off at any opportunity, evidently enjoying the occasion with like minded people.
