I agree absolutely they should have let the banks fail. They should have spent the money proping up the retail side of the banks whilst letting the investment part fail. But the party of the people didn't.

    Can't you see the hypocracy?

I'm not saying you should vote Tory but for heavens sake give the politicians something to think about. Vote Green, Vote Purple, Vote Yellow, Vote Pink. Just anybody but the Donkey in the red jacket (Dan Jarvis excepted) doing the job at the minute. ( I know it's not a general election - just giving credit where it's due)

I'd say the same about the Donkey's in blue too. They're all too bloody comfy.

I was going to go on about Ed Balls being **** with finances as well. But it looks like he can add 2 and 2 together.

In May 2009, it was revealed that together with her husband Yvette Cooper and Ed Balls 'flipped' the designation of their second home three times in a 24-month period, despite being warned several times by expenses officials that their claims were duplicated or inaccurate.[12] Yvette Cooper and her husband, Labour minister Ed Balls, bought a four-bedroom house in Stoke Newington, north London, and registered this as their second home (rather than their home in Castleford, West Yorkshire); this qualified them for up to £44,000 a year to subsidise a reported £438,000 mortgage under the Commons Additional Costs Allowance, of which they claimed £24,400.

    1) immigrant will come and work harder than many natives. They will work for less wages given their economic background. Employers take advantage of this. I don't see Farage stoping this unless it is via reducing educational standards of working class kids (even further?) and sling with it their aspirations.

    2) Given the country no longer has energy independence that you know all about we need to harness what is left.

    3) I assume you mean the war criminal Tony Blair? Good riddance

    4) The MPS is an occupational pension, so governments control payouts? In any case your payouts are the results of socialisation of contributions.

    5) Under UKIP and the Tories the Human Rights issue will go away as rights fought for by " people like you" will be thrown away

I don't disagree with leaving the EU but not based on fear of foreigners "taking our jobs". They've already been taken by the likes of Farage and big money they represent.

The present top of the Labour Party isn't the party of the people but a lot of members and voters still hold those values.

Ed Balls is on the list.

In practise, I don't believe that anyone would vote in numbers for UKIP in the general election - no-one seriously believes that they have policies and can put them into practise. A bit like the Lib Dems.

But I can see why people would vote for them in the Euro elections - it is a chance to protest vote in an election, and the outcome to be almost irrelevant to people's everyday lives - I have no idea what my representative in the euro elections would actually do in the euro parliament. Therefore, it is perfect opportunity, for anyone to cast a protest vote, if they believe that we should get out of Europe, or even that we should be given the chance to vote like responsible people in a referendum as to whether to stay in Europe.

Not saying I would vote for UKIP myself in the Euros (I would never in a million years do so in the general election), but I totally get it if people say they will be doing so. I believe myself that we should have that referendum - what are the main parties scared of - why can't we have the grown up debate? I don't know if I would vote to stay in or get out - that is the point - we need a proper debate on it, with proper facts, and then we can decide. And if we do, and we decide to stay in, at least it puts the issue to bed for another 2 generations.

It is really interesting to note that in the recent past, it was the Tories that were running scared of UKIP, and trying to smear them and their supporters with accusations of being racist. And it hasn't affected their support levels. If anything, they have grown a lot. Now, it is clear that all 3 parties are running scared of them and the smears are coming from all sides. I predict that it will be Labour that lose out big style in the general election next year because of their refusal to offer the referendum to people that the Tories are offering. If this Euro election results in a really alarming swing to UKIP it will be interesting to watch the rank and file squirm and push for a change of policy on that before next year. They are just not listening to people.

Of course. Or hung with barbed wire as Conan once prescribed in the case of Gideon.

100% correct nudge, that is the socialist way, not the UKIP way, look at their manifesto, they want to wipe out workers rights, the welfare state etc, whilst lowering taxes for the rich etc. Nudge you need a rethink, the above statement shows your socialist values and if you imparted those views to your union members then I can see why you became "el presdente". Before you start posting right wing reactionary views you need to stop and think.

All the Labour front bench went to Oxford, Miliband is a millionaire, Harman is a toff and related to Cameron, Hodge's family own one of the biggest companies in the UK who have dodged tax.

There's no difference between them and the Tories and the Lib Dems, professional politician with PPEs from Oxbridge living in a middle-class London bubble where immigration only means decent rates for nannies and workmen.

Erm.. but they also subsidised 80per cent of additional childcare costs for those in work. So incorrect that out of work got more support than in work.
