As others have said the public transport system is heavily subsidised and is more than adequate for people to travel around. This is a tax that majority are exempt from as well - certainly been politicised by his opponents and reason Labour lost Ruislip.
i never said anyone was forcing anyone to get EVs. I was suggesting that the topic and problem is not isolated to the ULEZ charges. There is a bigger picture and it needs to be addressed as a collective topic where interconnected elements contribute to the overall solution. So the overall topic obviously includes ULEZ.
During rush hour definitely. But London is over crowded. Doesn’t it have one of the highest population densities in the world? Driving through London is no better though. Staggered start and finish times at works would be a sensible approach, as would more working from home, but how can you justify London house prices if you don’t have to live there to work there?
There’s already one in place in Bradford. And like Barnsley I’m pretty sure they don’t have the transport links of London although they did spend a lot of money installing EVCPs.
I know , but like someone said our public transport is no where near like London's so then it becomes a issue
Yes, but doing away with the tube and replacing it with a car for every commuter would be worse than getting shut of the cars and replacing them with the tube, right?
Regardless of the car there would be total gridlock in London as the centre is a city designed to be navigated in a horse and trap.
Then they need to clean up the underground air. I'm only guessing but I bet that air is vented to atmosphere and contributing to the atmospheric levels.
When you say clean it up what do you think is wrong with it? All the tube trains are electric so the ventilation may be bad, but the tube is contributing to pollution (at least at train level).
Probably a good idea - plenty of scientific evidence that car pollution kills lots of people - in the end, do you care about people's lives or not?
It appears that a lot of brake dust is generated that fills the air with particulates. Just had a google and somebody has created an app to help avoid this muck that you breath in.
Its not "green", its to reduce atmospheric pollution - which currently contributes to the deaths of around 4,000 people in London annually.
If they care so much about saving the planet ban the cars entering the zone altogether. But money and abit of pollution is better. At a time when cost of living is higher they put more strain on the working people. And London isn't the only city with ulez charge zones.
Well ban the cars then, make people use public transport or car share with work mates. But money is better than banning the cars. London isn't the only city with ulez charges.
