I had an email dialogue with an incredibly intelligent business thinker just before I came away on holiday. He was really concerned about the tone and rhetoric and whipping of the far right.

He suggested a very high possibility of a high profile murder, or series of, and even, though he did say a minimal chance, of civil war.

This whole thing is so dangerous, I seriously hope we can all pull back from the brink of something that would damage relations of our people for generations

Boris has plotted and schemed for so long to get his dream job, and it's now turning oh so sour for him. It couldn't happen to a nicer person.

Probably not, but if he called for a recess for the Queen's speech he could only suspend for 4 or 5 days.

If only there was a competent opposition party to take advantage and sort the country out. Oh well, still stuck with the ******* tories then.

Yeah wrong time for Boris. You can't govern how he wants to without a majority.

I couldn't agree more. If we do end up leaving, us remainers will be bitter at leave voters for deliberately voting to make everyone poorer. On the other side, if we end up remaining in the EU, leave voters will forever be bitter for the referendum result not being applied. I have no idea how it will end - I am the most bitter at the people who caused all this stuff in the first place - Nigel Farage and the Tory party - sounds like an 80's new romantic band and if they were they would be a really crap band like Modern Romance.

I suggest you study Germany from July 1932 to early 1933, when a right wing party with only a third of the seats in parliament ended up running a totalitarian regime.

    OMG. Just No.
Libdems huge part of the problem by jumping into bed with the tories 2010. Being part of austerity which was thrust upon us. They along with the tories have blood on their hands.
Swinson another clueless closet tory who is only all out for herself. Devious cow.

And then do what ?shout and squabble amongst themselves like fking school kids as they have for the last three years or so!
Speaks volumes that this has happened and even if they sack Boris the rabble that is currently Labour still wouldn’t be clear front runners.
Absolutely useless shower the lot of them :(

Exactly. This is bad in the short term for BJ - his position may be untenable. Parliament could try and rush through a second referendum

    However

leave won mainly because it said “there are unelected European officials denying the people’s rights” - that may have been a lie, it may have been half right, whatever - people believed it. Now in GE or referendum what is the message from BJ / Farage etc - the EU is against you, parliament is against you, the courts are against you. If I was Farage I’d be rubbing my hands at today’s ruling

Alex Ferguson when Man Utd would loose what would he say “the referee is against us” “the media is against us” “the fa are against us” - load of rubbish of course, but it worked, it created a siege mentality around Trafford.

How does Trump deflect against his own short comings - the media are against me, the swap are against me - the result - he won an unlikely election and still today has 94% approval ratings in the Republican Party.

Basic human psychology - you want to win - play the underdog even if you aren’t.
