I didn't drink anything until I was 18 despite my nan trying to get me to have a sip at Christmas of her drink. I've always been weird about rules though, I knew the law was 18 and nothing could get me to drink before then. (I didn't know about you being allowed to drink in the house/with food until I was over 18). I used to go to the park etc. with my friends who would all drink but I never had any interest whatsoever. They started trying to apply the peer pressure after I turned 18 and we went out on a night but I don't give a toss about things like that, it just made me more determined to be sensible with it. I still drink hardly anything now, I just don't see the appeal.
I remember drinking at the back of our old infant school once, on the steps near the door. Quite a few of us there so there were a lot of cans (kestrel lager). We built a wall with the empties against the door, would have loved to have been there next day when they turned up to open the school. Kids eh!
I drank the odd drink from 12 onwards - nowt major. Think if it's accessible you don't go mad for it when you get older. Look at European countries like France where they don't have the problems with drinking like we do
I don't think I touched a drop until I was 6 - so was well within the law. An advocat Snowball I think it was. It is not illegal: For someone over 18 to buy a child over 16 beer, wine or cider if they are eating a table meal together in licensed premises. For a child aged five to 16 to drink alcohol at home or on other private premises. It is only the purchase of alchohol by under 18's that is illegal - or purchasing alchohol on their behalf. So if you buy a couple of ciders for your 16 year old to take to a party you are breaking the law. But you can give them 3/4 a bottle of vodka that you happen to have kicking about.
Well, I was 14 and all my mates were 16/18. Remember going on the back of their motorbikes for a ride! Didnt realise it eas to a pub... All I had heard of was lager and lime... I had that, didnt really enjoy it, but it was the beginning of my road to drinking now. Lol. ... When you live in Newcastle, summat wrong if you dont.... D
Always hated the fact that 16/17 year olds are deemed old enough to go to work, pay taxes etc even control a vehicle but arent deemed mature enough to have a pint. I myself started drinking about 14 as I'd say is pretty much the norm. I dont think its a massive deal its just what goes on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
