Eaden was good I agree, but I always have Joe in front of him. Another full back who came through ranks was Phil Chambers, good home grown player with a great left foot..

one of my favourite memories of Joe is late in his career v Portsmouth. He absolutely went through on one of the opposition. In a really dull 0-0 game. So out of character for him and in such a nothing match. Didn’t even get booked for it but was so out of character it was brilliant.

Not the only one, I'm also in the Brendan fan club. My absolute favourite player from that era, and probably top 10 all time.

Well, you're right about one of them (at a push). About 12%. Fail.

Despite the fact that his (Eaden's) middle name is Jeremiah, and that is totally unacceptable. :D

Hey it's weird you saying that, because as a kid then who didn't know much about the team in those days. I 'thought' Phil Chambers wasn't that good either!.

But if you also had somebody whipping in a good high cross, you would be very nervous with Watson in goal.

If it’s a whipped in high cross it will challenge any keeper.

And Watson regularly wasn't up to it (and I don't care where he was born).

Best keeper we’ve ever had. I think I can recall 3 times in 200 games or so where he was at fault on a cross. On his debut at the baseball ground when Paul Williams headed in. Iwan Roberts at Molineux and John Hartson on PL opening day. There may be more I can’t recall, but for the goals he saved us from one on ones, agility and incredible shot stopping, I’ll gladly forgive him those few ricks.

And yes, whether he was home grown or not is totally irrelevant. But it is nice the best full back and the best keeper I saw for us were homegrown.

To be fair to Joe, that wasn’t expected of full backs back then. For starters, they always had wingers to mark.

Absolutely true. I guess my point is Nicky could go what Joe did but I can’t imagine even with different training methods that Joe could do what Nicky did.

Yea we have had many keepers on the edges of getting called up for England. We are awash with them.
