RE: wel history seems to be alive and well in France and other places..

I have other views as well apart from money actually.

Take being born in the best country on Earth with a proud tradition which puts this country above others.

I can't for the life of me understand why anybody would think we would be better off without a Monarch.

The Aussies had a vote the other year whether they still wanted OUR queen to continue as head of state. They voted yes because they wanted to be part of the Commonwealth and the tradition that our monarchy has.

    Doesn't add up to me?

She had a ***** the size of a palm tree and Dirk was no where to be seen....

    Correcto.

When the Queen agreed to hand over the revenue from all her estates in return for an annual allowance we started coining it in.

The most important role of the monarch for me is as head of the armed forces. It's good to know that, at any time, the real power can be taken back from the government.

So any fascist cult which believes that one day it'll vote itself into power can put that in its pipe and smoke it.

Kings and Queens in the 21st century, what a load of ******, it's about time the South East of this island was cut adrift, freeloading set of parasites, and I'm unanimous in this.

    In theory Windy, yes.

In practice,it would be very difficult to do.
It also raises the question of the Royals and their class being able totake that action when the government of the day thretens their way of life in some way eg the two proposed coup against Harold Wilson

    And...

the irony is that the Queen and her class are more likely to be a "facist cult" than any other.

Serfs and Lords and all that. They'd love them days back.

    RE: And...

Of all the 'ruling' classes (for want of a better phrase) I think HM is the least 'fascist'. imho some members of the current govt are extremely fascist in their outlook. Being fascist is not necessarily a 'right wing' perogative.

Polly Toynbee is fascist imho. You'll find many of the Liberal left are so convinced that their view of the world is so correct and every other view deserves contempt that they are nothing if not fascist.
