Update on my trans thread from a couple of months ago

I live in the Sheff Rd area. I drink in the Vic and Outpost from time to time. The landlord in the Outpost is called Craig and he is very GLBT friendly. I can't say that everyone in that area wouldn't be an asshole, but there are some decent ones around - me included.

 

This has so much meaning Gravy from my favourite artiste. Representative of this board.

Stick to it and be true to yourself, it will finally give you the peace of mind you have always wished for. Sorry but not in the least bit surprised for the knobheads you have encountered. So much wrong in the world at present and some people still think they have a right to abuse a total stranger due to their looks, gender or colour. Don't let the ******** grind you down!!

 

Just be you, mate. I know it’s ******* awful sometimes the way people can be, but genuinely, the majority are behind you. I can only echo what others have said on here, if you need a pal to just vent to, I’m just a PM away.

 

I walk past both pubs at least twice a day, so I've probably passed you in the street on many occasions. Like you say, most people are fine. It's just the very aggressive minority who ruin it. I get most stick from the unsavoury element who like to congregate around the Lydia 24 hour shop.

There are some vile people who won't accept anything other than "the norm" - whatever that is - and will abuse anyone outside of that. I hope you can keep away from these morons. Don't let them win.

 

Very brave to continue to share this, as I said before I hold my hands up as someone who has very little understanding of the subject and have probably been insensitive to it in the past.
The waiting time for treatment frankly sounds like a nightmare.
You mention your clothes and makeup ect, could I ask are you dressing how would like to at the moment or do you feel you are having to still try and conform to what others expect of you?

There are uneducated people in all walks of life. Sadly they do not want to understand anything that does not meet with their agenda or limited intelligence. However, there are a great number of people on this site that will offer support and listen, I like to believe that there are more good people than bad in the world.

 

It seems that we live more & more in a country that feels it’s ok to shout abuse at others for any reason whatsoever. There’s no doubt in my mind - morons live among us! Sometimes I am ashamed at the way my fellow humans treat their fellow humans. You have our support, please keep talking to us here

 

From those who know, yes. Reluctant about telling others because as good as I know they are, they’re more socially conservative and won’t like it.

 

So...8 years since Sean Bean won an Emmy for his outstanding performance as a Transvestite in Tracies's story, and yet you still have to put up with sh*te from ignoramuses. Sadly, regarding the attitudes of some, little has changed in the interim. Distinguishing between what is the norm (status quo) and what is normal/natural for others seems to escape some people.
It is a pity that you feel that some of your friends/family "won't like it" You are surely still the same person you always were. In fact even better for not having to hide your true feelings behind a 'lie'.

As I say I don't have a great understanding of what you are going through personally but my main feeling on hearing about it is curiosity to learn learn more, so thank you for sharing.

What I can empathise with is the feelings when you are out and about. Having 2 disabled children (autism) I have had many looks and comments over the years when we go places. As much as I put on a brave face and try not to care what others think or respond to comments and call them out, it can still be draining and in my wife's case a contributing factor to metal heath problems.
So genuinely if you ever need someone to talk to drop me a message, I would be happy to listen and talk.

 

Just be nice or don’t be anything. I don’t get why people have to be a holes. The best feeling than any other is to help someone or be nice to someone without expecting anything in return. Keep your head up love, keep being you, and don’t let the minority of idiots drive you down.
