The people waiting to see who we sign first will be the people moaning the most when transfers are poorer than expected due to lack of season ticket sales putting funds in to the budget.
That's fair. But can you honestly blame people for holding back when they've been let down year after year with the transfers these owners have sanctioned? Barring a handful, the transfers have been very poor. It's catch 22. I know why they're pumping the ST's. I know full well that they have to advertise. But it's the third message/post/ announcement that I've seen in two days. Enough already. The fans know they're on sale. It's just coming off as a bit desperate, although that's probably strong. Let's say we all jump onboard, put our faith in the board again.... What do we do if they sign another couple of non league lads, and a loan from the French 18th tier (what with it being upper league 1/ Champ level after all). Will the same people be saying "wait till you see the transfers with less ST sold" the season after next? Surely the board has to do something to entice fans back. All we want is competitive football. To do that you need a competitive squad. We're not being given that. You can't just keep chucking money at them forever in the hopes they decide to buck the trend and assemble a squad that can actually compete properly. I'm not knocking any fan, choose what they do. Renew or not, support this board or not. Whatever. I'm not knocking Conor either. With the right tools I think he'll be an absolute triumph. And if he's given the right tools, I'll be sat in that stadium along with all you guys. But if we're selling our silver and buying dross again, I just can't justify the cost.
But we haven't been let down year after year.We had an awful last season but prior to that we had a playoff final and then a semi final. If you want to knock the owner fair do's but what about some praise for the good they.ve done too. The present board have had 3 seasons and I for one can forgive and forget last season because if not it can poison your brain.Last seasons gone lets all make next season a better one and that includes the main factor us the supporters.
You're acting as though we haven't signed Roberts, Okeefe, Gent, Connell, Cadden, Phillips, Russell, Cosgrove, Watters & so on. Plenty from the leagues around us.
I just want to go in the website to get my info because it is not cluttered by others opinions where somehow the gist of the info provided gets lost in a bed of crap. By all means inform all fans at the same time but do it by linking them to the website.
I once went in WH Smith’s in Peterborough and they were selling a copy of Kevin Keegan’s autobiography at a discount. The reason? There was a sticker on the front saying ‘signed by wrong person’!
Found it! Who had Dale Jarrett, former race car driver and current racing commentator as the signature author? How both random and spectacularly on brand of our communications department to make a stupid mistake that no one notices before they post it.
My Lord. I just assumed folk were taking the mick. But it’s genuinely not Conor’s signature is it. This is hilariously crazy.
We were ahead of season tickets sold vs last year with the same number of days to go last Tuesday when we asked the club. That said, a good chunk of the early bird sales typically happen in the last days of the window.
I miss the days when we had a group of staff working for the media department that knew what proof reading was and took professional pride in the work they produced.
This is encouraging to learn. Most folk I know have renewed / are renewing. And believe me, some of these were fuming a few months back. But that’s love. Passion. Emotion. You don’t give up on something that easily. I was ready to spend less time on BFC next season. But I quickly changed my mind. Because it’s all I’ve known. Not exactly a great reason or show of faith. And with a podcast to launch, it probably helps if I watch the games.
Can't be, literally nobody is renewing apparently. My mum went down to renew hers last week and she was told at the box office that they'd been very busy that week.
That's crackers, and completely inexcusable. Wouldn't have stopped me renewing my season ticket mind.
