Are you sure that's right? I know Obama pardoned more than most and, until recently anyway, Trump fewer than most. But the amount you have suggested from Obama is a lot more than I remember reading in the article.
It’s right in terms of the use of the Clemency power it’s 100% true. That includes pardons and commuting sentences though.
Because commuting the sentences of hundreds of young black men jailed by white judges for possession of drugs is directly comparable to pardoning your mate who committed treason on your behalf or murdering children whilst in your mates employ. Just 2 sides of the same coin
Ok. This is where you’re going way off tangent and not reading anything I’ve actually typed. I didn’t share any opinion, I wasn’t using it to bash anyone, and I even said in the original post it might be the case that everything was legitimate. I only said it was interesting and thought I’d share it as part of a conversation about pardons and the Clemency power. Anything that a leader of a country does more times than all previous leaders combined is interesting. To me anyway. Whether they’ve hit that stat for the right reasons or the wrong ones.
We’d need someone far cleverer than I to break down the post you wrote and the one I did to ascertain whether I shared an opinion or bashed anyone worse than you did. As I see it, you offered a fact that could have been construed as an attack on Obama for being ‘worse’ than Trump (as Trumps pardons were being discussed). The stat you quoted was clearly misleading in that context (again in my opinion). Whether it was purposely misleading or not, only you know. But my point - that Trumps pardons and Obama’s clemency are not at all comparable stands.
But your post felt like you were trying to bash me and my ‘side of the coin’, like most people to be fair, when I clearly stated I wasn’t posting an opinion and wasn’t bashing anyone. Honestly, it feels like discussion is dead in this country in 2020. How could I have made it more clearer that I was just sharing something interesting? ‘I have zero opinion on this as they might have all been legit and valid, but I thought it was interesting and not something I’d heard anyone say before. Also made me assume all Presidents must file a few through at the very last chance they get so is probably the norm’ Also, I don’t think it was misleading and more a result of people not really knowing what the Clemency Power really means and assuming that just covered pardons. In hindsight I could have been more clearer on that, but as I wasn’t trying to win any debate or trying to discredit anyone, I just typed it as I had heard/remembered it in my head. Even now you’re talking to me about Trump vs. Obama on pardons and I haven’t even offered a comment on that particular subject. Do you see where I’m coming from?
It’s baffling isn’t it. When you ‘offer an opinion’ it should be read as being completely neutral and not to be making any point at all. But if someone responds to your posts in any way other that just agreeing with it, then they are clearly ‘bashing’ you! sorry pal, but if debate has died it’s because people can’t cope with being disagreed with.
Well Mr Orsenkaht..... I did say I thought there would be twists and turns in the tale, didn't I? It appears that Mr Pence didn't write to request the clean slates of Electors from the six battleground States yesterday after all and is now being sued by the State Legislatures and several State Voter Alliances for failing in his official duties under the US Constitution. I gather that the Legislatures have formally instructed Mr Pence to remove the Electoral College votes relating to the contested States from the count. I'm not an expert on the intricacies of the US Constitution and I haven't bothered reading the full legal document that was filed so I can't say whether that is how things will play out or not. I'm just passing on what I've heard. I've put a link below in case you want to check it out for yourself though. https://www.democracydocket.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/45/2020/12/DC-WVA-20201222-complaint.pdf Cue barnsleyreds telling me that it doesn't work like that. I'll be interested to see what new developments come up over the Christmas holidays.
Nor am I, but I strongly suspect that rather like the State of Texts case, the state legislatures will be advised that they have no locus standi in the matter. The wriggling is looking more desperate, and clearly Pence wasn't up for it. His thoughts may have been on his own chances of securing the nomination in 2024 - especially if his boss is in jail! (Actually, that might be Trump's best chance of a pardon!)
I've got no problem with being wrong a few times along the way as long as I'm right in the end when it matters.
At what point will you stop believing a new path for victory from nonsense sources and accept that all the smoking guns, all the dead certs, everything you parrot has turned out to be false so far, you should maybe stop digging?
Perhaps on the 6th or 20th January 2021 when it has been decided one way or other beyond any doubt. Until then, I'm having fun and, besides, your life would be so much less rewarding if you couldn't come on here several times a day to tell me I'm wrong.
If anyone fancies a laugh I recommend searching for posts by casual tyke containing the word "interesting". There's been so many "interesting" pieces of information or "interesting" few days to come, all of which have inevitably led to nothing.
But you said it was all over on the 9th November look... No maybe’s or eventually’s. You’d seen the evidence that meant he’d won. Deal done November the 9th.
Interestingly..... everything relating to this on-going election saga 'leads' to the final outcome on 20th January 2021. Any wins and losses that happen along the way are largely meaningless. Trump could lose 1000 lawsuits and still win the 1 crucial one that lands him the Presidency. When we get to the Inauguration you may get to have a proper laugh at my expense. Until then, it may be worth remembering what they say about 'he who laughs last'.
