very bland and boring fight, as is usually the case with end of career cashed up boxers, all the better fights are with the younger fighters with something to prove
Also if you're going to be biased in favour of someone, pick someone more worthy than a misogynist homophobe.
I’m not annoyed in the slightest, I think the decision is right and as I said to whitey; I had it by two to Usyk but with several rounds that could have gone either way. I’d have been unsurprised to see it go either way and it felt closer than 8-4 - though there were plenty of rounds that were subjective enough it has to be said. 116-112 on all three cards is a tad suspicious though. For me it was much closer than the first fight which was split.
I scored it usyk by one round had the 1st even. Alot of close rounds that could have gone either way. In boxing amateur or pro scoring is always preferential.
I think that’s just because the judging was widely criticised for the ridiculous Fury card after their first fight. I’m sure that played a massive part. As an example Lennox clearly beat Holyfield in their first fight & it was scored a draw. The rematch was a closer affair but Lennox got a unanimous decision (which he deserved). I think the same has happened here. The judges were probably scared of making a balls up again with the added scrutiny on them.
I get that but basically you’re saying scoring the first to Usyk rather than a draw & taking one other round you’ve given Fury & giving it to Usyk is a joke when 116-112 is really close to the 115-114 card you’ve scored.
I thought dave Allen beat Fisher aswell. I just expected it to be one round either way very close imo.
I think the difference there is there were 5 rounds that were absolute clear Allen rounds plus a knockdown in his favour where he’s massively out landed his opponent & you can’t see anything other than a robbery.
If you’ve watched boxing for years you know the way the scoring works. It’s perfectly possible to have a fight with very little in it finishing 120-108, if they thought one fighter won each round by the tiniest margin. Too much emphasis is put on how ‘wide’ the scoring is, when that just isn’t how fights are scored. If one judge, for example, says fighter A won 120-108, but the other two say fighter B won 115-114, then fighter B wins the fight, even though the total rounds is heavily in fighter A’s favour. I would wager that if you asked the three judges tonight to, over the whole fight, share 12 points between the two fighters, they would say something like Usyk 7 Fury 5, or even Usyk 6.5 Fury 5.5, but, at risk of repeating myself, that’s not how boxing scoring works. Tonight’s judges all scored the same for 7 of the 12 rounds, Usyk winning 5 of those. So there were 2 rounds they all thought Fury won. As there were no 10-10 rounds scored, it means there were two 2-1 splits in favour of Fury and three 2-1 splits in favour of Usyk. I thought Usyk shaded most rounds and won a couple convincingly, Fury shaded a few and won one convincingly. But, historically, on close rounds judges also tend to favour the champion. Looking at the punch stats, however, it would suggest that Usyk had a comfortable victory. An awful lot of Fury’s punches hit the gloves. Will Fury finish his career with a fight with Joshua? I can’t see him getting another crack at a belt now. To be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if he decides he’s done. He’s a heavyweight, who’s fought at the top for some time and has taken some big punches, but he still has his health. He’s not getting any younger, has more money than he could ever spend and has a large, young family. He doesn’t need to be taking risks with nothing on the line except more money.
I’m about to call a long day a night. Despite my earlier claims that Fury won by a couple, I’ve watched some stuff back and now I feel a draw was probably what I’d go with. There was nothing in it at all. So Usyk has again edged a decision on output, fair play. Whilst I think Fury fought a more intelligent fight, kept it long, he still got hit here and there, flush once or twice, and unlike the first fight, he didn’t really land big tonight, and certainly not enough offence if trying to wrestle the belts from the champ. I love Usyk. And what he’s done (against AJ, DDD and now Fury) is superb. He should rightfully be regarded as the very best heavy of this era. I hope he retires at this point. Fury v Joshua at Wembley should be the way to say thank you and good night to both those two also. Time for bed!
Pity this fight didn't happen 10 years ago. Anyway, Usyk looked after himself much better than Fury and as a result was the better boxer in each fight. And these were a couple of the best heavyweight boxing matches I've ever seen. End of an era, watching these freak human beings (Fury, Joshua, Usyk, Wilder) has been a pleasure and now it's over and we'll go back to normal people being Heavyweight Champion of the World. I was lucky enough to be able to watch a period when giants got into the ring.
Cannot for the life of me see how people genuinely thought Fury won that, though to be fair vast majority are either Fury people or huge fans. Reading comments on loads of different social media and YouTube, I'd say 90% all favour Usyk too. One clear winner for me tonight, backed up by the stats to boot.
