Derby away,Bournemouth away , Luton away . To name but three I’m know they’d a lot more where we out footballed teams not using hoofball . Seems one or two are lumping sll games under one banner , may have been listening to the oppositions post match and some pundits lazy reporting imo .
Steve Bruce is going down a storm on their forum, its hilarious, after demanding Val out, most of them are saying they'd have rather stuck with Val than have Steve Bruce!
I actually think it’s a poor decision from WBA perspective. I think Val has done a good job there or at least a respectable job for the standard of their players. I think he didn’t have the right players to fit his system and I doubt another manager will do any better. He’s been unlucky insofar as forwards haven’t put chances away. It’s fine margins - if I was Khaled I would be doing everything to get him back to Oakwell. At a point where he is facing mass exodus of loyal fans and season ticket holders (myself included) it would be a move to get people back onboard and give us a chance of staying up and / or promotion next season.
Can’t understand anybody wanting him back. He was starting to flag a bit with us as teams sussed his tactics relying heavily on the extra subs. Me…firmly in the he jumped ship rather than trying to kick on , got him nowhere, so fk him
Loved Val & last season. No way he's coming back. Will be getting paid, spending time with his family & looking at offers for next season. Oh, & counting the cash this move made him, despite it not working out. I wish I could have as unsuccessful 7 months in my life.
If Val had stopped at Oakwell would we have been in the same situation as we are now ..... I don't think so.
I have no issue with that style of football. The 2 stumbling block would be the owners may have, and finding someone else to play that way once he moves on.
Don't get me wrong I loved last season and I do like Val - though the style of football wasn't always to my taste - but personally I think the conditions that were in place that contributed to making us a success last season have passed. I would have like him to have stayed on and seen how the team developed this season but unfortunately we will never get to find that out. Also, I have a thing for never going back - it generally doesn't work out as we found out with Danny Wilson who was even more successful than Val.
Don't think that analogy works. Val gave us our best position in the Championship in decades. I want to stay in the championship therefore of course I'd welcome back the one chance we have of doing so.
I honestly can't believe there are people moaning about Val's style of play considering the drivel we've been served up this season. Dear me.
Millwall, Birmingham, Rotherham, Derby, Coventry etc, the football was absolutely execrable. I've never, ever seen Barnsley win games and been so dispirited watching it. There were some fine displays but they were getting extremely rare as the season wore on. Don't want what has been offered this season either but it shouldn't be an either/or situation.
So Val's version of the press was very successful but tedious, Stendel and Strubers less successful but ok, but at a lower level..... Schopp, well he didn't really have a version of anything and Poya doesn't play the press or any particular system that I can see. Bleedin impossible to please us lot ain't we.........
