Erm we paid over a million pounds for Ward & £800k for Hignett of course we werent going to just give them a 12 month deal! Many people myself included didnt expect much of him before the season started. So of course it was right to give him a short term deal.

Hill knows what he's doing and saying, it's mind games and man management and it's working because he is getting from Vaz Te what no other manager has managed. He was a massive risk but it's paying off so far. Could he take this form to another club? I'm not so sure.

Good Player ........but how many on this board said he was crap and shouldn't be offered a deal pre season,
I think a lot of opinions have been changed.

As Ive admitted before, while I saw the logic in bringing him ere, I didnt think he'd have the required work-ethic, and like many that Keith recruited, his injury record was appalling. Plus, having spoke with Hibs supporters, they couldnt believe we had basically done a swap with them for O'Cokehead.
And up until Cardiff away, Id seen little to change my mind. Pompey away sticks out, he was griefed like crazy on ere, after a shocker.
But since that day in Wales, he has proven me wrong. His attitude has surprised me no end, and while he's still at times quite frustrating to watch, when he works hard, he is a top player at this level. Unplayable even.
But lets trust the club and Hillcroft. I do feel that if Butterfield changes his mind and signs the deal he first rejected, that it could tempt Drinkwater into a permanent stay, and maybe Vaz Te and O'Brien will follow suit. I know we have half a season to play, but I reckon theres a long game. And next season would look quite tasty if the above lads hung around. Experience will have been gained, and with an extra 6 derbies next year (maybe), yeah, could be a cracker!

In terms of Vaz Te's career prospects he should sign for another year with us with a release clause. However, he might be asking for silly wages now - perhaps this is why Keef is miffed with him, given that he has rescued his career for him.

Good player, hope he is sensible in contract negotiations though.

Hill should stop knocking Vaz Te for his defensive duties and start on his defenders.

FFS the number and quality of Vaz te's goals this season has been nothing short of brilliant so far. Yet after watching another cack defensive performance, Hill chooses to publicly go on about his defensive frailties. Is/has Kevin Phillips ever been any good at defending? I know his loss of the ball led to the 4th goal but for christ sake we'd already presenting them with at least one other through defender's frailties.

Another thing as well, Mckeverley constantly breaks down our own attacks game after game with his shocking distribution and not a word is said (not publicly anyway).
Perhaps Hill shouild concentrate on his player's positives when speaking publicly. He's certainly not telling it how it is.
