The whole idea of a family area is for families and kids to be able to go and not feel intimidated so that they get a feel for the crowd and then become the future supporters of the club. The clue is in the name! If every Tom, Dick and Harry sits in there without kids (and I'm not tarring everyone with the same brush) and lets say have had a few ales and become aggressive, that's going to had the adverse effect and these kids are not going to want to come back. Regarding your quote about playing the system - to get a free kids ticket you need proof of age such as a birth certificate - you can't just make a fictitious kid up out of nowhere and hope for a freebie.
It's called a Family Area but we are stopping family members sitting in there with eachother. Problem solved if they just renamed the area something like Child Stand. Family is anyone you are related to. The word family isn't suppose to mean just kids.
Everyone knows what it means when something is specifically called & listed as 'Family'. Be it a film, holiday, tv programme or, as in this case, an area of a football stand.
It's common sense, this "family area" to me is a area for adults and children and it is at every other ground.I started going to oakwell when I was 12 with my uncle, 2 cousins and my brother and we had season tickets in the family area.If we would have continued getting season tickets in the same area 10 years later and turning up under the influence of alcohol and swearing etc etc would you be happy?
Ah Mr Spinks. Told me outside box office on day of promotion parade that it was off....so I went home
