Although I have been brought up to dislike Wednesday with a passion I had the misfortune of going to see The Reds at Brighton a few years ago and found the whole experience distasteful. The Brighton fans are thoroughly hateful and supercilious as if their new plastic stadium gives them a right to the riches of the Premiership and I thought the Sky coverage last night was horrendously bias in their favour. Shouting for Hull in the play-off final!!!
I don't particularly care about Sheffield Wednesday. They could do with a modern stadium or at least rebuild Leppings Lane with a bigger concourse, but they aren't the Blunts. If they don't go up hopefully we are in the championship for a couple of decent derbies against them. If they do go up Yorkshire as the biggest county there is have a rare Yorkshire team in the top flight for a change.
Most of my schoolmates, and in fact most of my mates growing up in Elsecar were Wednesdayites. I even went to watch em as a kid when Barnsley were away, with those mates. Only a handful of times like, but they were some team back then with Waddle, Hirst, Walker, Bright, Nilsson etc. I even had a Wednesday shirt. And a Man Utd one. And a Liverpool one. And a Spurs one. I had loads. Used to decide which laiker I was going to be when we were playing footy that afternoon. Always ended up being Cantona, O'Connell or Gazza. Usually Gazza. That Spurs shirt was never clean. I've digressed. No problem with Wednesday. Obviously, I'd like to be back competing with them because they're the biggest club in the county. And yes, it was funny seeing their fall from grace in the last 20 years. But they're 'on their way back' they reckon and good luck to them. They have been the best side I've seen in that division this season, such a great side to watch, much like ourselves. On their forum (Owlstalk) they've been cheering us on for weeks now. Wishing us well. I expect them to beat Hull at Wembley.
I wanted them to win and both teams to score, finished 1.1 so lost my bet.. Hope they get hammered in final by hopefully Hull
not bothered either way to be honest, and it certainly doesnt feel like ive been kicked by a horse as the op says.
I've found myself wanting Wednesday to go up. Nice to have a Yorkshire team up there (Blunts or Leeds would be a different matter) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm assuming most of above don't have to live and work amongst the deluded, ultra arrogant, thick, unwashed to$$ers. They've been fecking unbearable today at work...If they do fluke promotion I'm seriously thinking of taking early retirement.
