The club could install solar panels on the side / roofs of the stands, money generated could then go towards a new scoreboard. Err - what ever happened to the original solar panels scheme?

I have to say chaps, that although your intentions are admirable..........why does a championship club, paying good wages to most of the players, need the fans to chip in with time money and effort to buy a scoreboard......120,000 should not be much to raise by the club itself. Ludicrous situation.

The fans already conribute by turning up in the first place...... The club should be better run....oops back to an old chestnut there i feel.

Bloody hell - bit embarrassing that Colchester Utd can have one and we're fannying about. The smallish one they have can't have cost much at all.

I've got an old subbuteo scoreboard I don't use any more. Has all the teams from c.1976, think that should cover the ones we need for now. Could be a problem if we have to play MK Dons or Crawley though!

I like this idea. I could write something if we could come up with a decent idea. Maybe something around in game play?

You should make a game where you're Bobby Hassell and you have to dodge supporters who are trying to say hi to you. You can pick up bonuses along the way like lots of swear words (more points for the naughtier they are), an 'ignore' bonus where if you fail to successfully dodge the fan you can simply ignore them (a lifeline essentially) and the biggest bonus of them all, a blowjob from matt. Lots of points for that one.

    In Summary

    In summary:

    · Plenty of people would be interested in getting involved in a fans project to bring us together and deliver something for the club/fans
    · Many of think that a new video screen would enhance the matchday experience AND deliver another revenue stream to the club
    · Some would rather see a simpler more modest solution
    · We have a contact with expertise in LED / Big Screens in Fluff
    · It would probably cost considerably less than the £120K previously quoted to the club.
    · We should speak to the club and find more information about what was previously quoted and the sponsorship plan they had in mind.
    · We should get prices from several suppliers to give us an idea of what its going to cost including fitting etc and understand the features/ technology on offer and also look at rental cost.
    · Delivering a solution that would incorporate some up front sponsorship would help keep the amount of cash required to get the solution off the ground to a more realistic target
    · Suggestion that a non-profit company could be used to provide funding to the football club.
    · Suggestion that we get a mega sponsor in to cough up a large part of the outlay .e.g Samsung, Coca-cola etc
    · Partnerships with local business might help fund a screen.
    · Initial Ideas for fundraising:
    o Retro Shirt Sales
    o Sportsmans Dinner
    o Race Night
    o Bucket collection
o Knacker Waxing (Gordon Owen in particular)
o Mr C offer Art Work for the cause
o Android / Iphone App as a fundraiser
o Advertising Sponsorship (the big one!)

I’d like to suggest that we should perhaps divide our efforts into a number of teams and hopefully we will have people with skills that are more suited to a specific area. Maybe also allocate a team lead in each area to coordinate that teams efforts and pull things together?
Off the top of my head :

    Procurement Team
    · Agree spec required
    · Get quotes from suppliers
    · Understand technology / warranty / running costs
    · Get initial quotes
    · Report Back

    Fund Raising Team
    · Plan events / fundraisers
    · Get as many fans involved as possible
    · Collect the hard cash

    Strategy Team
    · Understand the advertising opportunities from a big screen
    · Understand what football clubs can charge for advertising
    · Come up with a business plan that is attractive to sponsors to put money up front for agreed amount of advertising
    · Report back and agree with club

    Sales Team
Sell up front sponsorship of the screen to business local and otherwise as defined by strategy team.

I’d also like to suggest an intital meeting next Monday evening? Say 7pm venue to be decided.

    COmments please :)

    Re: In Summary

    You've missed the whinging team.
    - complain about the price
    - complain about extra sponsorship
    - complain that they can't get involved
    - complain its not got a DVD player built in.
