    The problem with Mike Sheron...

...wasn't that he was out and out dreadful. Face it - he wasn't. He could play football. It was the value we got out of him.

We paid a tremendous amount of money for Sheron (a ridiculous amount) in transfer and wages (notoriously) and he wasn't worth what we paid. That being said, like K.O. he was a long long way from being 'the worst striker we ever had'. He just wasn't a good piece of business. And he was frustrating in front of goal and too lazy (or appeared to be too lazy) for a lot of the time. I'd rank Sheron along side the likes of Nardiello. Only Nardiello didn't cost us millions.

Now contrast that with, say, Neil Shipperly.

    Here we go again

Show your complete lack of football knowledge.

Sheron was one of the best players we've had at leading the line, breaking offside trap and working defenders.......Dyer wouldn't have got half as many goals as he did without Sheron alongside him.

But too many people don't look any further than the goals for column when looking at forwards.

I can take people saying they didn't like him, or that we paid too much for him - but to say one of the worst ever, or lazy, is just ridiculous.

Mike Sheron was like Jon Macken

but without the ability. and slower. not so much finding space, as passing the ball into space. and missing chances. Ohhhhhh, the chances he missed. All for a bargain price of £1.5 million and £10k a week. His wages are up there in Barnsley history alongside Raleys Solicitors. There's thieving and there's Sheron.

The most overly charitable view of any Barnsley player ever.

All those offside traps broken. The idle jack fcker.</p>

Mike Sheron signs = Matt Dunham gets a job = Sean Lewis = Barratts 'Oakwell View' detached executive homes.

Waiting for premiership service from second division midfield.

Lazy is one way of describing the fact they expected a pass to their feet or at least into their path not lumped hopefully forwards.

that's why they didn't get on at Barnsley - rest of the team weren't good enough for them

But then - they weren't good enough to be in a team where they could get the quality of service they needed!

    Frustration all round I guess
