£48 per day is below minimum wage, assuming you're talking about an 8 hour day.

I ran a small business in Barnsley for 32 years, and in that period created (in total) about 600 jobs for local people. When I left (about 18 months ago) salaries ranged from just above minimum wage to around £65k per annum. We hardly ever paid exactly minimum wage as we wanted to make people think they were earning their wage rather than being paid it because of legislation.

The person who earned £65k when I left started off on a very low wage years ago at age 16. There was no minimum wage at that time but it would been around that level if there had been. He worked hard and eventually got into his current position by a combination of hard work, ability and attitude.

7.5 hour days mate. I actually got it wrong it is £50.32.a day £6.71 a hr. No extra for weekend, no extra for Bank Holidays, Nights are more, about £8.45 per hour.

With a different agency you can get £7.21 per hr, but you do not get any holiday pay, as this rate apparently includes the holiday pay you would accrue.

You must keep very select company then.

A salary of £60,000 pa would put someone in the top 10% in the country.

    The median income is £20,000.

That they can't all be getting paid vast sums of money so some of them are likely to be on average wage or less.

OK you said £472 pw wasn't enough to be a Tory and in a thread about the average wage in Barnsley I just commented that not all Barnsley Tories could be earning that much. Whether they are or not I have no idea, I was taking the pi55. Try to keep up old chap.

As a young man who fell on his feet at 17 now 24 with an apprenticeship with then British energy now EDF on the nuclear stations throughout the UK with an average weekly wage of £1500 yet I still choose to vote labour as my old man would disown me.
I believe you have to be certain type of person to vote for the Tories and I for one am not one of them!!

Sigh...I repeat...You're a couple of failed pay cheques from homelessness. Your government will soon be hammering the lower middle class who they hold in nearly as much disdain as they do the working class.
