There are 70 of us on my shift at work. At least 15 of us will be at Oakwell this weekend. No discount. SO THERE. (this thread is garbage.. I like Conan, but tha whingeing for the sake of it.. and take that from someone who int on a council wage but is paying £23)
Sorry everyone. I would just like all BFC fans without STs to have the same opportunity to come to Oakwell at the same price regardless of who they work for. How fvcking ****ish of me. Please accept my apologies.
In life everything isn't the same for everyone as has been shown to you many times in the thread. It is childish of you and the idea is a good one from BFC and im not a council employee.
Didn't I start rhe thread. Plus using my mobile so it will look random as I use forum runner... Anyway I expected one or 2 to bash council workers like normal but jeez. Didnt expect it to go full on warfare like it has Btw I support the idea
Doesnt the council own half the 'club'? being the largest employer in the town, isnt it only business sense that the club approach them to encourage more people to come down? DW Fitness offer a discount on gym membership, whats the difference? Wind and piss.
Can I ask a question please ? Is BMBC paying the club for this discount or is the club offering the discount purely on the grounds that it could reach more customers through BMBC's employee network ? If it is the former I'm not sure I can agree with BMBC spending council tax payers' money. If it is the later then good idea and it is at the club's discretion as to how it prices and encourages its customer base.
because you are bairning again. someone, no one or lots might get into oakwell for £18. you might have to pay £23. you might be able to pay less than £14 if you buy a season ticket. everyone has there own circumstances and situation. good luck to whoever and however you get in. BFC have actually come up with a marketing idea.... as loko said its probably the first idea we've had in 10 years ! lets celebrate the fact the club are actually trying to encourage fans to come to oakwell i think its called engaging with the community.
So a person on £40k a year can pay £18 a game purely because it happens to say BMBC on their paycheck but someone on £12,500 a year has to pay £23 a game because they work for someone else? That sounds crazy to me.
How's it bairning? It's called having an opinion - as I said above, last time I checked it was just about allowed on here. It's not really engaging with the community is it? It's engaging with a certain section of the community who happen to work for BMBC and may not even live in Barnsley.
That's how I went to my first Barnsley match, for a quid through school. (I think the ticket was free and the quid was for the coach, but still, fan for life now!)
I don't see a problem with the former, it's just part of a BMBC employees rewards package. Rather than paying their employees a higher salary they offer schemes like this, paying BFC the money they might otherwise pay their employees, allowing them to get discounts at BFC.
Manvers area, new builds going up all over the place, there must be 500 plus houses and a load of businesses down there. I'd target that lot with some offers, we're one of the best clubs in the SY region at the minute.
But a ST holder will pay a lot less than I will do (again) purely because they're paying up front. Those on benefits get free prescriptions, dental care etc. I don't. Because I work. Folk who work at our place but live locally, can claim their travel expenses back. Because I live 40 miles away, I can't claim. So as you can see, there's all sorts of financial mysteries I come up against. Life is indeed a bitch. But I smile as I plough on through it. Double hard basterd that I am. *as an aside, I love your propensity for an argument, pal.. or a debate, shall we say..
It's taken you a while. I like this. The less you're on, the less you pay. 0.1% of your gross income per ticket. 30k income, £30 ticket.
NOT AT OAKWELL WE CAN'T!! dont get me started there is a charity , and i stress its charity that operates as tickets for troops . there are many many football, rugby, cricket , theatre, racing and music tickets that are generously given to the charity from various organisations. we can book for 2 home games a season for £3.50 a game ( if your club has tickets that is, BFC don't) to alleviate the unfairness of just getting a free ticket every week for your own club The FA are brilliant and we get an allocation of tickets for all england games, FA cup finals etc, usually in ballots of which you are only allowed to win 1 ballot per year, therefore giving as many people as possible the chance to attend most of the non sporting events tend to be around london so living in the south ive been to some cracking stuff over the past few years... right result!
How does this work and does this als apply to teachers and NHS staff etc? I am a teacher and haven't had an email or heard owt about this and have a st anyway but it would be nice to buy additional discounted tickets.
